Never read Hellboy before, but I love the art, may have to pick this up

Hell(boy) YES! I cam absolutely buying this.

If you're after this in the UK I've just ordered from Books etc for £74.31 Cheapest I've seen in the UK and I've used Books etc loads of times and never had a damaged book. They're not fast ( 7 working days from order ) but I'm never in a rush. Gonna sell my tpb Omni run of my Hellboy books but keep the 2 short story ones I have. Couldn't turn this massive book down. Wish Big damn Sin City would get a reprint though! ✌️

Really torn about this book. I like the size, the reading order and the ability to read the main stories all in one place. However, the library editions have more content, extras and a manageable reading format. In the end, it is a matter of personal choice.

I hated the binding in the library editions. No eye, and pages that wanted to close. Magnolias artwork style meant minimum gutter loss, but still.

@@IronMooRe I feel you. I still prefer the smaller size format though. More manageable and comfortable when reading, and less risk of loose pages or the binding falling apart after awhile. Dark Horse hasn’t had a good reputation with the quality of these monster-size books in the past. Not sure if this book will be any different. Only time can tell.

Ahh man that sucks. Im new in the comic/omnibus world and my first Omnibus's were the Alien's series. What I love about those is they add so much extra stuff and even changed the names back to Newt and Hicks even though it wasn't canon anymore.

I can't imagine a book heavier than Big Dam. If I have a hard time lifting that book, this one is really going to be a monster.

I thought I was the only one who hated the felt covers of the library editions. Still the best way to collect the series in my opinion but I wish they went with the usual hardcover

I made the mistake of staying on the fence on Colossal Conan because of the size and build....I won't make the same mistake with Monster Size Hellboy.

Absolute beast of a volume haha. The monster sized Hellboy collection is even more ridiculous.

To do a complete job they could also include: The corpse and Baba yaga. If they had also included the latest issues of Bprd the devil you know in which Hellboy reappears it would have been perfect🤩

I only have the library editions, but Humble Bundle just offered the entire Hellboy & BPRD run for a pretty good value. Guessing it's not absolutely everything though... but all the BPRD... oh man.

Other things to keep in mind about this monster size edition. Since it collects the Hellboy omnibus editions these are all in chronological order, while the library editions are publishing order. I’m still on the fence. But I’m a huge Hellboy fan. Have the library editions and the omnibus editions in the box set. And I bet DH does another with the short stories.

Omar, I believe this book sold out already at IST, CGN, and OPB! I looked around 12:15pm eastern today on IST and it was there. I was going to wait until November 14 to order this book along with the Hush omnibus, but I guess I’ll have to wait for the Hellboy book or I might just order it from Amazon US. That really did sell out fast!

The Hellboy Omnibus boxed set contains all these, but in four manageable volumes for about a third of the price.

The colors on the Monster Sized book don't just look darker/more saturated than the Library Editions...there are actual changes. At the 21:53 mark of the video, you can see that the BG colors on the left page have gone from purple to something closer to taupe. Same thing with the head on the right page. It looks like these changes had already been made for the omnis, but quietly (probably because they're very subtle changes).

OMAR, 21:55 What is with the color changes on these pages? Purple/Grey, Green/Blue… they don’t seem like a darker printer issue. I compared the two at a book store and there are some pages that appear to be touched up or recoloured. Not just a darker printing. Your reading experience will change slightly depending on which volume you read. Color’s are used to elicit emotion and set mood. What is up here? How many different color panels are there?

i noticed the saturation changes were blowing some images out too but maybe it's the camera affect. the color changes and the weight of this thing i'll just keep the libraries.

The problem is that not all volumes are available on Amazon and this Monster has all main stories

Ive gotta say by the looks of it, theres no way this book could survive in good condition being stored on a shelf for a long period of time. I mean at 2:45 you can see the weight of the pages is ALREADY pushing down on the spine. That things gotta be stored on its side

There is an easy solution for this, for whatever book of that size, just put it somewhere "flat" either front or back.

Omar, are ALL of the Hellboy Short Stories vol 1 and 2 contained in the Library Editions? I don’t have the LEs but I have the tpb Omnis. Based on your review, it seems the LEs only have a FEW of the short stories. If people are concerned with missing out on a FEW of the short stories, they can always buy the two Short Stories vols.

I really don't like the size, if it's too big to read, i don't need it. Passed on Sin City just because of this, if they did it as 2 volumes i'm in. I love the Dark Horse Library Editions of Hellboy, Goon & Fear Agent.

No art has been touched up or recolored from what I’ve seen. Seems to be the paper stock and a different printer that is causing the darker colors is all. Reds are still vibrant.

It looks like because the pages are so big that there isn’t gutter loss like you would see in a normal sized omnibus ?

Hellboy was one of my favorite reads.

I’ve been waiting to dive into Hellboy once they made a Marvel like omnibus hardcover because I like that size and all my books fitting together, but it looks like that’s not happening so I guess I’ll have to pick this up and just suck it up lol

You reckon Dark Horse will give the B.P.R.D. stuff this same treatment? I own all 7 of the Hellboy Library Editions and some other stuff. I need Plague of Frogs etc. in an oversized format.

So what are you keeping for your reading copy in your collection. The omnibus or Library editions Omar? Knowing you its both😂😉

Nah thanks, I am extremely happy with my Library Editions. Best thing about this book is that it's selling for $150 with so much content. Meanwhile DC is selling smaller omnis with less than 1250 pages for $175. You can bet anything I ain't buyin' any of those unless they get a HUGE discount. Buncha crazy goofballs.

Probably not getting this the mapping is better than the Library editions. We could really use another Library volume with Into the Silent Sea, Midnight Circus, etc.

I never bought the paper backs or the Library Editions but I will be picking this up. It's a bit pricey but the content is top notch.

The box set is just the first four Omnis. It’ll have about 88 more pages of extras than this book, but no short stories. Perhaps they’ll make another box set.

Nitpicking, I know, but it kind of looks like the title on the spine is not really centered. Kind of wish they would've went with a big, vertical one like for Big Damn Sin City, instead of having all the black empty space around.

Doesn't have The Corpse; or The Crooked Man; or Hellboy in Mexico; or The Troll Witch. The Library Editions in turn don't have Being Human and Into the Silent Sea. The Library Editions are the better deal.

Wow the color difference is very noticeable between this two , I personally like the colors on the Library edition more .. I'm gonna have to go back & look at the color on the omnibus

Good video showing the content of this book and comparison with previous collections. Too bad it doesn’t have everything, but much of the essential stories. So, most omnibuses have no extra materials like sketches or covers and stuff most of the time! I don’t have too many Omnibuses. Takes up a lot of room and so heavy… hahaha…. But this looks like a cheap read for all the stories. I think I hav3most of these in individual issues.

This is what I like, one book and done. The entire story of Hellboy in one book.

I wish the omnibus were hardcovers this edition is way to big for me .

The Library Editions wound up feeling pretty bloated with extras I was never going to look at again, so I'm happy to save some shelf space with the change up for this one.

Not really. Although they add some to the characters.

A welcome novelty addition... but its so big that the spine seems like it would start to collapse over time

I have the box set alip case Omnibus collection. (The 4 tbp omni) does this cover all that content?

I dont know why it bothers me that they left pancakes out i get why but its 2 pages its a great short story.
