I cannot thank you enough for this guide. I was playing some Prowler last night and really enjoying myself but had no idea how to go about crafting the purrfect set up, especially given the language barrier. You've just made my life so much easier!

Love these videos, between bow charge blade and prowlers they've helped me enjoy the game to it's fullest.

Hey adam, glad to see you back at least for a bit. been missing you with all the mhworld stuff coming out, you're definitely my favorite youtube channel when it comes to mh stuff in general. the Arrekz guy may put out more stuff, but you have the soul, the heart. you were the person that helped me learn mh for real. anyway, this feels like a weird moment in mh history with the uncertainty of this ever being localized, but mhworld coming out worldwide soon. it's a turning point for sure. i hope you'll be here for us when the community inevitably gets shitty thanks to the series becomes a lot more popular.

Found this vid again since the announcement for MHGU!!!! Ive been contemplating either starting cats over or tweaking them in GU. My 3 main cats are level 46 and i cant bear getting rid of them or starting another cat all over again. At the very end i briefly heard you say that you can have TWO tutor moves instead of one. That alone saves one of my best cats because i currently cant put both boomerang pro AND worlds strongest (from dlc cat) on him at the same time!! Looking forward to an in-depth best/worst palico vid or just learning the new system myself!!!!

This is NEAT, I can't wait to customize my prowlers! Who doesn't have some aaaalmost purrfect but they miss just one or two skills, with that that problem just dissapears, really good change. Still waiting for a localizated version tho!

In mhgen melee guard prowlers are viable.(trust me I use it on 7 star quests) Does it still work? Does the weapon upgrade boost on damage and affinity make it more in line with The boomerangs. And with perfect guards is the already strong guard skills not necessary anymore?

Still sad it's not localized. They put the work into making it switch compatible. I'd think expanding to america would help justify the cost and increase their profits. Oh well, we get the message.

Geoffrey Perrin Dude there's still a chance of this game being localized lol. It's only been a year since we got Gen. Besides Japan had to wait a whole year before they got XX. I think since now the development team is finished with the Japanese switch version they will start working on the English localization if they haven't already. I highly doubt we'd get an unfinished game. And the fact that we're getting a localization of MH stories gives me hope also.

I think they will definitely avoid releasing a english version of XX cause it will compete mhworld. Pretty much what nintendo did when they cancel the release of starfox 2. I still play mhxx though buy using the mhxx patch. Downside is, it needs a hacked 3ds.

Looking at this amazing improvement in MHGU while still playing MHGen makes me feel envy. For already 200 hours I'm checking every palico scout after each hunt for my planned purrfect prowler and still no luck... 😭

Ragnor, boo I'm not saying folks should bottle up their emotions. I'm just saying, step back for a bit and accept that this is the hand we've been dealt. Capcom chose to release MH World in the west. They seem to be testing the water with it. All I'm saying is, to look at the good side of the situation. MAYBE if we show support for MH World and it does well they'll say, "hey you know what? I know it's late but I'm sure they'll buy XX too, let's go for it." Believe me, as someone who has only been playing Mhgen I was disappointed about no XX for the west.

I feel betrayed in a small way, as a long-time customer, by this move. The reason these games don't come out on Sony consoles is because Sony treated the series like absolute shit for years and years. They should have told Sony to shove it and released World for XBone, PC and maybe Switch, but never, ever Sony again. I'm not interested in rewarding a bad company for bad business. It's not a huge deal, I just won't buy the Sony version, but I still feel like that version shouldn't ever exist in the first place. Hurts my soul to see the MH team go back on this. Sony doesn't deserve to be able to make money off this series ever again.

Hey Gaijinhunter, I have an interesting question, maybe you can answer. Im playing Monster hunter XX on switch atm and have all DLC available. But now I want one of my palico's to have the skill: Ranged Attack. There should be a cat for DLC with this skill available but I heard it was in Japan only for a certain time. Now I also read it is/was possible in Monster Hunter gen/X/XX (i dont know!) to share a cat online to let someone else copy a skill. My question now is; Is this possible and if yes, can you explain, since there's no info for on this to be found on the internet. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Hey, Gaijin, I'm trying to scout Guard Prowlers with certain patterns to save time in GU, I found some that can become what I want but they have Defense Horn instead of Emergency Retreat (on the class skills by default). Can you re-roll those too? In the video seems that you can't, but just for be sure. Happy prowling! X3

Do you have guides with the complete list of skills? Just parsing the list quickly, I noticed a couple of passives missing... sharpness up (a four red dot passive) and beast mode duration up (a 2-point red passive).

+xizar yeah the skills that are specific to a type are not listed as they cannot be received unless you teach it from another cat

Ive been playing Gen U and messing around with cats a bit (mainly for palicos and meownster hunter), and i dont recall seeing a random reroll option in the dojo? Theres a teaching option, but i didnt see the other. Maybe i just didnt pay attention or misinterpreted. I know theres teach, nap, and intense training for leveling up though

I already got a perfect fighter cat with everything desirable for prowler, just need to swap weapon upgrade for fordidden acorn and I‘m good to go. (I know there are better options but I just love the skillset) Chose a guard and a bomb cat as my two palicos, very guard heavy skills and very bomby for the other one, let‘s see which skills I will teach them. Still debating on going worlds strongest or aera for the prowler. Probably will just head with aera now since mounts are too good to pass out on and the extra defense will be nice.

That reminds me, isn't there an option to import generations data? I swear I remember reading that.

Depends on your playstyle regarding your prowler. The skills you want most is earplugs, support boost, critical up small and large and boomerang pro. You can add 2 skills to a palico and the skills you want to add to those 2 are generally any of the sills listed above or ranged attack up (dlc), universal ( dlc), support priority (dlc) or a hacked cat skill which was supposed to be implemented in mhgu but capcom didn't release it which is weakness exploit. You can ask a Japanese player for this and this skill works even though it isn't implemented in game as the code is already in the game.

The cat system in MHGU is so confusing, I still don't know what's SP state and how is it relevant to hunter arts

I watch this and think "hey I really wish someone would make some AR reading glasses so that you could play ANY game from ANY country" if someone made some glasses that did just that mostly they would probably sell pretty good depending on the quality and speed of the translation.

Omg... so basically you can "craft" what set of skills you want on your cat?? Then you can customize your palico/prowler in absolutely any way you want?? If so I want this game and I want it now!!

Best thing I noticed here is, all thr quests are clear, how the heck did you finish the prowler fishing quest? I hate it

Badass Toad I love the soulful flute music. It's embodies the "village of hunters" theme very well. That and the respect you get from both the guild gal and the chief really made me feel welcome after a while.

I am still bitter i couldn't take the sword out of the stone as a prowler I think

This would be useful, but unfortunately I can't read moon runes so it's useless in the long run.

My biggest problem with double cross is that most of the deviant sets don't get much better, I was really hoping they'd fix the thunder Lord set with the true thunder Lord soul skills, and they didn't. Silverwind gets better but it's defense is EXTREMELY low for a g rank set at Max level, and although dreadking doesn't get much better, it was so good to begin with that it doesn't matter. The only disadvantage it has is that it's defense is lower than Thunderlord armor, but only by 40 do who cares, which is the only good thing I can say for Thunderlord is that it's defense is so good that you'll never need to have some kind of skill to fix that, unless you're fighting white or crimson fatalis but the crimson one's armor is so good you'd use it anyway and white fatalis would probably one hit ko you anyway so it doesn't matter. It just doesn't balance well, and I do wish it was fixed. Unless you're a dual blades user like, then go for either Thunderlord or azurebolt

I don't even care, I just want to pay them money for the complete 2 part game in english that they said wouldn't have a 2nd part but then made one anyways with prowlers fleshed out. Capcom is one of the few companies that will actually look money in the face and say fuck you it's amazing..

Is that event quest in mhgu?

Using the dojo to have palicos teach skills to each other eliminates the whole skill pattern thing doesn't it?

A little late. But yes it does to a degree, because you can only teach two additional skills to you cat.

You go to the palico dojo, go to lessons, put your fighter prowler as your master and select the piercing boomerang skill and then select 1-3 cats to learn it. Press + button to do the lesson if you don't have 3 cats in the lesson. After 1 quest come back to this and check the dojo lesson again and the skill will be passed on to your desired cats.

Well, I just learned from my friend that not even a full year has gone by since MHXX was released in Japan and apparently I only commented on this video a week to two weeks ago, so basically I have a terrible sense of time. That means, based on previous MH title release dates, if it follows the same pattern, we have plenty of time for it to be announced!... the only issue with that is that that means we have to wait longer, which is hard because as much as I want to play Generations, seeing the changes in MHXX, well, let's just say Generations cat is very underwhelming comparatively.

Sure am glad it was ported to NA...

Thanks for the quick guide! How do you start the DLC Quest? I have already downloaded it, but I think I'm still missing requirements as the Hunter Hub chick doesn't show me the option to start this mission.

People who bought Switches are far more likely to not be console gamers. A major reason many of us got a Switch is bc although we can use it on the TV, we're not chained to it like with PS4 and Betamax Box One

Gaijin, how can the most of your cats have pierce boomerang and big boomerang with any prowler type, i can´t made a single one with those skills. In one of your others videos i see one of your cats whit "shock purr-ison, Poison purr-ison and the 2 boomerangs skills pierce and big. Can you help me?
