tbh power levels through iceborne fucking spiked and only continued growing higher in rise like everything was fine and dandy, then boom safijiiva drops in as a black dragon level monster (it was confirmed in dive to iceborne book) the red dragon then alatreon then fatalis being probably the hardest fight in the series, then in rise narwa the allmother being an elder dragon nearly as strong as safijiiva (not a black dragon though) but well who cares about narwa sunbreak raises the level even more with gaismagorm who is even stronger than the allmother, and you see THIS IS JUST THE BASE GAME makes me wonder what monster they will bring in updates if the power of the ones in the base game are already that high honestly i expect they will bring white fatalis as sunbreak final boss and give him an insane moveset to counter all the crazy movement in rise and if anyone deserves a crazy op moveset its him

I cannot express how liberating it is to finally beat the fucker. I have been stuck in this endless cycle of failure for a whole month. After I beat alatreon, I was very eager to take on the game's final challenge, but I was burnt to a crisp. Each attack took almost all of my health. At this point, it was time to cook up a brand new build. It took me two weeks to make the perfect set for a CB main, the first to get the armour and ironside 5 charm, the second to fully augment my lightbreak CB with 10% affinity and an extra dec slot. I even went out of my way to create a separate build for the start of the quest, involving felyne bombardier, bombardier 5, artillery 3, heavy artillery 2, 100% affinity and the lightbreak gunlance's wyvernfire. I thought I was ready, but even with all of this preparation, my ass was kicked ten times over. At one point, I reached his final phase, but time went out. It was cruel. I realised that my equipment was not good enough. So, I decided to farm his materials. This took a painfully long time, but I did it. I crafted all of it's fully upgraded weapons, and I crafted all of it's armour. Now, I created 3 separate builds. For the start of the fight, I had the true fatalis greatsword with 10% affinity, 4 pieces of furious rajang and Stygian zinogre beta arms, with heroics 7, maximum might 5, latent power 2, weakness exploit 1, and critical eye 7, and partbreaker 2. If all went according to plan, I could start off the fight with a bang, precisely around 7500 damage, along with the slinger burst and a tenderise to the head. After this, I died to trigger fortify, and changed to my next build. This time, I had the true fatalis insect glaive with 10% affinity, armour with critical eye 7, partbreaker 2, weakness exploit 3, speed eater 2, speed sharpener 3 and extra flight damage. I aimed for the head most of the time, and I kept this up until I broke both horns. However, I fainted shortly after the final phase and before the second break, so I had to switch to my final build early. As a CB main, it felt right to end the 2 year long journey with this. I had the true fatalis CB with 10% affinity and health augment, and armour with critical eye 7, guard 5, artillery 5, evasion 5, weakness exploit 3, speed eater 2, quick sheath 2, offensive guard 2, agitator 2, guard up, and polish. This was the final stand. I put on the rocksteady mantle and chainsawed his chest to pieces, used a binder and broke his head again. Not long after, I fainted again. I was panicking, I really didn't want to do it all again. Then, the dragonator was ready. I got him into position and drived it through. Proof of a hero started playing, and it pushed me to finish him off. I used the second binder, I used the second round of the roaming ballista, I wall banged him, I dodged and sliced through the attacks, I chainsawed over and over again. Just when I thought I would lose to the timer, the camera panned to fatalis, and this soundtrack played. I couldn't believe it. I spent over one whole month throwing my head against this thing, believing my efforts were for nothing. I screamed, then laughed, then burst into tears. I could finally take a break. I stared at the victory screen in awe. I posed in front of the monster's corpse, and took a screenshot. I took a screenshot of the time and the image. This is why I play video games. To overcome the greatest of challenges, and wellow in pure escasy and pride. Thank you capcom, for giving me this moment, one that I will never forget.

One of the most comforting and relaxing victory themes I've ever listen to

The amount of tries...countless, Fatalis was the first monster in my experience to ever make me give up. Never before has a monster brought me to my knees and made me stop trying to hunt it. I eventually moved on to other games and kinda left his quest unfinished but it always lingered in the back of my mind that I couldn't do it... it was only after a year A FREAKING YEAR that I decided to give it one more go. With no thought of actually beating him I gave it my all and used everything I had learned over the years of this series. I knew that this was the run I had gotten father than I ever thought possible and finally what I thought was impossible for me became a reality! I hunted a fatalis and I can claim that as a hunter! Sincerely a very happy lance main 🙂

I swear, one day I will hear this theme in-game. Update: After 11 months of pain I have heard this theme in-game for the first time, thank you Racheal, for basically carrying me. (Got 3 evil eyes, 2 carving and 1 of the mission reward)

I just beat this dude yesterday, for once i had a setup with some random teammates and they were really good. During the last bit of the fight Fatalis went crazy and did his spiral sweep of fire three times in a row and my teammate ran from the other side of the map to hit me because i was stunned, he was the true teammate, the best I could ever ask for.

The desire sensor is wack. I got two evil eyes from carve and 3 from quest rewards.

The fact that this guy got 3 large elder gems and a evil eye from a 1% drop from a plunder

Can’t describe the emotions felt clearing this quest haha! It’s like we went full circle it was the most satisfying thing of all satisfying quest clears in MH ever!

I just took down fatalis and then this theme is showing up, I almost cried, it felt likes I was play the gen 1 monster hunter again

I play this theme every time I achieve something great, like beating a very difficult boss, or finishing my final exams.

I have to say that they did an incredible job with fatalis, and just monster hunter world in general. Fantastic final fight to round off a fantastic game. See you all in monster hunter rise in March

I haven't done the quest myself, so this is an assumption, but maybe someone who has can back me up on this. The theme that plays in the crossover quest I'm assuming is the Forest and Hills theme, or "Roar!/Rathalos". Technically, Fatalis theme (the original one) was a remix of that theme, as they had the same melody but Fatalis had chanting too.

When i finally defeated fatalis on special assignment after so many tries, i almost throw my controller. I only have 3 seconds left before time runs up. Roaming ballista really saved me there. This music is the icing on that sweet sweet victory
