It shouldn’t be too different for mac, but I haven’t tried so I wouldn’t know. I’d ask around in the old school community for assistance, I’m sure someone there may have some insight

Gonna go boot this up on my ps2 phat and plug it into my 27 inch sony Trinitron CRT and play it like its 2006 i remember seeing trailers and screenshots for this game back then and i loved monster hunter on the ps2 and the freedom games on psp but was excited for another monster hunter game on the ps2 and obviously we never got it haha it's crazy to think this game came Out when i eas 14 and im only just now able to play it in English at 31 Better late than never i suppose 👴 😂

I used to use my laptop to play back in the day, but it depends on your specs, and whether you’d be willing to lower the settings to accommodate them if need be.

There’s a patch that lets you play without the stick controls, but I would seriously encourage you to step outside your comfort zone.

You will need the game regardless of whether you are using console or computer, it’s pretty cheap to import. There is a way to play on PC, I’d recommend asking around in the old school discord for help if you’re looking to setup (links in the description). If you’re still struggling after asking around there lmk.

is it easy to Map change the attack buttons from the analogue stick?

There’s a method to do it, but learning stick is still the best way to go imo. If you really want to remap, I’d ask around the Old School discord’s help channel.

Great patch. I ran into only one issue. I patched MH2 improvement patch 1.3 on top of this patch, and now the game wont load. Is there any work arounds? The creator claims it's compatible with your latest patch.

You may need to reselect the file in the emulator, even if you called it the same name.

@@mh-united I found a solution. I just downloaded a fresh install of the latest version of PCX2 , and the game runs now. I kept updating on the same build for years and something could have broke. Thank you for your response.

Does this also include having the traditional controls?

There is an older version that you can get with PSP/Button controls. I’d still highly recommend experimenting with stick, imo the game plays best when you aren’t trying to make it like feel like other MH titles.

I dont mean to be a nuisance, but i have a question about the platform. I have the game for the ps2, is there any way i could make that work? Also, props to you and the whole team who made that possible! Thats super awesome to see!

So you can get it to work on official hardware, if you have questions on how to set that up, I’d ask around the old school discord (it’s linked in the description). You can also get it to run on your computer, with PCSX2 or another PS2 emulator. Either way it’s pretty easy to patch the disk.

You need your own copy of the original game to install the patch.
