I remember getting the Coastal Defence assault set for Christmas way, way back I can still feel the excitement of seeing the box and then opening it up to see all wonderful cool stuff inside and then discovering that the 2 guns actually fired, it's o wonder I can still remember it after all these years, thank you for sharing this and taking me back to my childhood.

You can see how Airfix solved the "chopped artwork" from the 70's boxes having the window in the middle of the box to what they did with the boxes from the 80's- split the box in half diagonally putting the artwork on one side of the box and then the window in the other (lower) corner. It was brilliant and gave you the art and the view of the figures. Great stuff!!! You've got a wonderful channel and collection!!! Nice catch on noting the colors of each country on the WW1 boxes- that is cool the Iron Cross gray for the Germans. It really POPs!!

@@toysoldiernostalgia The secret is that when I left home at 18yrs old to spread my wings I left many of my old toys behind. Many were high on cupboards/wardrobes and mum being shortish didnt bother to get them down to give to charity organisations which she was part off.Once my wild days were (semi???)over I came home and collected and took them home much to my now wife’s annoyance.I have a shed full of kits to build in my retirement 🤣.I have an Airfix t shirt that I proudly wear to the pub and you wouldn’t believe all the great comments I get including a very presentable 40ish lady who poked my chest and said I used to play with my brothers Airfix soldiers.

Those tea dispensers were very often used to make spacecraft models for film and TV, by people like Derek Meddings, or Ian Scoones. Once you know what they look like, you will always be able to see them, no matter how many greeblies they are covered with! Lovely haul, there, and those Airfix window boxes - wow. Those brought back some very happy memories. That's why I love your videos - the things that are important to you, resonate with people like me; your Blue Box farm, for example - my kid brother (54) had one, and played with it all the time. He passed it on to his daughter, and she loved it, too, even though it was such a simple toy. All the toys you show, are powered by something that sadly, is in short supply nowadays: Imagination. My brother and I would spend hours in the garden, on our bit of dirt, and create worlds with a few Matchbox cars, some Airfix figures, and a load of imagination. Kids today probably wouldn't even want to go on a bit of dirt. Sad.

True words. I have a photo of me aboute age ten (1978) where I set up an airport in the hallway in our flat. Everything very organized. To me it wasn’t just a few toy planes and cars on the floor but a real airport full of life and action.

I had all four of the assault sets, but I don't remember the armour being so anachronistic. Maybe the sets were different in the early 1970s or maybe I never noticed. Then again, maybe I didn't have them as sets, but as the individual components ... it's so long ago now. Thanks for the nostalgia.

As usual interesting toys pretty cool military sets I've never had. I used to collect 1/72 scale but eyes not good for that scale anymore. 1/32 and larger is preferred these days but I still haven't bought any soldiers it's always models with the occasional box of model soldiers that have to be put together in 1/35 scale. And as I always find the German infantry is what I have lots in model form. Just have to have patience to build them. As always interested to see what surprises are in the boxes.Good stuff.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️

I do have somewhere amongst my out of control collection Italeri German Tank crew and officers. Oh yes also German Trumpeter Tank repair crew and modern German vehicle crew, Modern US marines, US Tank crews and Israel Tank crew. Sorry for repeating words.
