    They tried. But Deegan and Yamaha USA pressured the kid trying to buy it, out of it. AMA needs to set this straight now. How's they even let those 2 have a private meeting with a 17 old is beyond me. It should of never happened but AMA let it slide and Deegan and the lawyers, yes lawyers...made this kid retract his claim. Crazy.

  • @SWWfishing

    @SWWfishing

    Жыл бұрын

    AMA did enforce the rule but the kid claiming the bike backed out. Had nothing to do with ama not enforcing a rule. The kid was getting support from a Yamaha dealer and Yamaha threatened the dealer. There is absolutely nothing the ama can do to control the free market. I’m not saying it’s not a shitty move by Yamaha but ama rules cannot stop the free market. If you do something Yamaha doesn’t like they can decide to stop supplying your dealer. Just how it goes. They are only hurting their own brand by doing so.

  • @believe8263

    @believe8263

    Жыл бұрын

    @@SWWfishing Where in the rule book does it say the original owner of the bike gets any say so in what happens to the claimed bike? The AMA should never had let anyone pull that minor into a room and intimidate him into changing his mind. They did nothing to protect that kid and his original decision. They are the governing body. They should have told Yamaha and the Deegan's to pound sand.

  • @SWWfishing

    @SWWfishing

    Жыл бұрын

    @@believe8263 well you said the ama should enforce their rule and they did. They impounded the bike. The kid came back after all of the events that may have or may have not happened and decided not to do it. Just like the kid had a choice to claim it, he had a choice not to claim it. He could’ve claimed it, but he would’ve lost support from his dealership because Yamaha would’ve pulled all of their bikes from them. If you think I’m agreeing with Yamaha you are wrong. The fact is the ama cannot stop Yamaha from pulling bikes from a certain dealership, it’s the free market. And as far as the kid being put into a room, that was not the ama. Is the ama suppose to give the kid a bodyguard after you claim a bike? He should’ve been with his guardian especially considering he’s carrying around $17,000. Or he should’ve been smart enough to leave. The bike has to be impounded either way and Yamaha would’ve found out the same time they did and still have reacted the same way regardless of the kid being talked to in a room.

He shouldn't even have been talking to the kid claiming the bike since he isn't the AMA. Again Yamaha USA was the primary villain in this and the Deegans were pretty much innocent bystanders.

    It was great racing and an awesome weekend partially ruined by corporate BS and the use of money and power from someone I thought was a decent dude to trample the rules that are set to keep this from happening, then treating the little guy like garbage who followed the rules. This is sad for the sport and sad that Star Yamaha and Brian continue to act like they are in the right and threw this kid under the bus. Someone ask Brian what he would have done if another dad and promoter had his son in a trailer grilling him without him being there, and he would have lost his mind. But it is fine for them to do this to another teen rider because money and clout. To get threats directly from Yamaha in two countries and all this pressure at the track proves how valuable this bike was and should have been left at home, but what are rules to important people right. This could have been handled so many ways by people who have plenty of money and resources to make a deal, but they just wanted to be right and superior to the little guy they can smack around, but truly owe an apology to this rider. It is sad the guy following the rule is smeared because money and popularity.

    But the real question is where was the dad? You’re telling me a minor walked up with $17,000, claimed a bike, then went into a room and decided to stay in there being talked to instead of leaving or asking for his parents? Brain would’ve never let haiden go claim a bike by himself. Also in the kids interview, he claim that since May he had been saving to buy the bike. What 17 year old is able to make $17,000 in a few months? Sounds like he had his daddy’s money or the motor guy actually did put them money up. Who knows who’s actually telling the truth. One thing is for sure is Yamaha handled the situation awfully. But to say Brian was in the wrong is just the kids word vs Brian’s. If Brian actually purposely intimidated him, shame on him. But how do you know the kid isn’t lying? Just look at Tik tok, kids will do anything now a days to get just a second in the spotlight. We will not actually know the truth but if you are going to speculate, you must look deeply at both sides. If you were in Brian’s shoes you would have a different opinion. If you were in the kids shoes you’d have a different opinion also. It’s all a bunch of drama bs and the kid should’ve left with the bike. He even said himself in the interview that the deciding factor of him not buying the bike was Yamaha’s threat to stop supplying bikes to his dealer. Not brain or the other guy that talked to him in a room. Even if that did happen, and we pretend that it didn’t, Yamaha would’ve still found out because the bike was impounded. Yamaha would’ve still threaded his dealer and he still would’ve backed out. The only way the ama can solve this issue is to make bike claims completely confidential which would also be a very hard thing to do.

    Yea really disappointed in Yamaha USA and Yamaha Canada for strong arming that Canadian dealer and forcing Brennan Schofield to back out of claiming the bike to prevent harm to his sponsor, the Canadian Yamaha dealer. I am not a lawyer but it seems some laws might have been broken but we will never know. It is certain that the AMA's rules were circumvented and they, the AMA, should do something about that but I'm not holding my breath.

None of the bad actors said anything to implicate themselves or to fess up to being the reason Brandon was coerced to back out of the claim. If you listen to all their stories it's like no one had anything to do with Brandon's decision to rescind the claim and we know that can't be true. So I don't believe any of them including Yamaha.

    Somebody should look at the stats and see if anyone won that wasn't receiving factory support. Like MINI-BIKE-MAFIA says down below, "Factory Amateurs!" I guess if you are true amateur your goal might be try and finish in the top 10. Pretty soon the true amateurs will get tired of trying to beat the factories and LL's will be like a National with Semi after Semi playing the game. Now we find out Star Yamaha is cheating...so that shows us how much it means to the factories that they will cheat and do everything possible to hide it! They are banking on you chasing the dream.

    I could see where your coming from if it was a amateur drag race and you run a 1000hp car in a 600hp class that's cheating but this is motocross it takes skill and a pro bike doesn't guarantee a win if you ride one! Deegan is one of the best riders on a dirtbike right now he would of won on a stock bike with just suspension.. that bike didn't make him win.... The way the whole situation went down was kinda messed up dudes just a kid wanting a badass bike and he had the money can't blaim the kid and it is a rule so he read it and was like holy shit.. but anyways I'm sure most are regreting the way they handled the situation but it's over now! Damage is done..
