I've lived here all my life as well. I grew up in Dade County but now I live in Marion County (Ocala) & Have fished like every popular fishing area in FL and I have never seen a Trout that big here. Only time i caught one of that size was up north and I know that is a fish of a life time to catch here in Florida. Congrats to Jake.

I'm 71 years old born and raised & still live here in South East Texas just 30 miles from the Louisianna border and 22 miles from the Gulf of Mexico and have caught a bunch of them in my life time and have never caught one that big. So congratulations to you Jake !!! I know your dad is very proud of you and I'm proud of you too. Ya'll keep your bait wet and your powder dry, tight lines ya'll.

I just knew Gabe was going to tell us about the materials the fort was made out of. it is a really cool rock that is soft until it dries and is like absorbent to shock of cannon balls. Coquina. If you ever get the chance you should visit non -corona. There is also midnight tours that the local college students participate in to name famous people and so on from there. Around 2004-2005 my now x wife and I went there just checking things out from Texas. Down the east coast then over to Ocala then back to Texas.

That’s a trout of a lifetime Jake. I know many full grown’s that have been searching for a trout like that for many years. Congratulations little man. @bluegabe you need to do a stuffed flounder the way we do it in South Louisiana. I’m sure people do it in other places too. Cut the head off then separate the fillets from the backbone without breaking the skin then use shears to cut the bones around the edges. Fold back the meat like pulling the hide off of an animal to get all of them. Now you have a pocket/ pouch to fill with a good crab stuffing. Crab meat, egg, mayonnaise, all purpose seasoning, bread crumbs and may be some onion and garlic 🤤

Looks like one of my favorite spots called Guana lake. I have caught two 30 inch trouts out of that lake. Great catch and good to see the fishing still rocks in there.

When I was 17 living in North Palm Beach, I was driving over a bridge ( I think on PGA Blvd) at night and saw a school of large trout swirling under a light mounted below where those docks come out from under the bridge. All I had was a hand line. I used a fresh water fly and that hand line, rigged it up and crawled out on my hands and knees until I was just about over the school. Dropped it in there and caught one (28 inches). Couldn't catch another one, but I got that one.
