Monolith is better than single inferno because it always takes max 7 shots to destroy one troop while single inferno take time to deal max damage
Makes sense monolith is unlocked at th15 to counter th15 offense, inferno tower balanced against th10. While the levels help they have to make new defenses better

the main difference basically is that monolith is "immune" to freeze and invisibilty in a way. When inferno gets reset its done. When monolith gets frozen it still does a lot of damage before

Also, let's say if a Pekka has around 30% hp left, the single inferno will still take 1000 years to charge up Though the Monolith is balanced around the fact that th15 comes with 2 spell towers aswell. If monolith was the only new defence for th15 then they would probably be even stronger than eagle artillery lol

Single inferno punishes troops harder if they are being locked on in a warden ability and then the ability ends and the damage just suddenly goes through. A seemingly niche interaction but relatively common actually.

This happens so often while I’m doing a IceBoWitch slap with bats as th11. Warden ability saves the ice golems for a lil but when it wears off the golems stand no chance

The thing about the monolith is that IT ALWAYS kills a unit in x amount of hits vs inferno tower that can only go so high in dmg Edit: dang I got a lot of likes I started a war in comment section, soI will clarify Monolith superior into inferno tower in every way, it does shreds all types of tanks better even IF the troop has 9999999999999999 hp it will STILL kill it in 7 hits Also base dmg does not mean dps Base dmg=300 Dps=200

So a unit like the regular witch should do much better since it can't one shot the skeletons. Meanwhile the multi-target Inferno will fill that role

You also have to think about already damaged units or in context with other defenses, that is where the Monolith shines even more.

Indeed, an inferno tower doesn’t kill a half health golem in half the time because it has to charge up first. The monolith on the other hand will kill that half hit point golem in half the time.

Of course the monolith is the strongest. It is the first building that is made with dark elixir. It is in level 15 Town hall, the last we currently have. The stronger the enemy the more damage it does.

Actually inferno tower would be much better if it didnt have to chrage up. Inferno towers dps is still the highest and thats why its damage when charged is much much higher than the monoliths.

@@thegrimreaper9552 This actually can be seen if you try to measure it’s damage against the BK’s health along with its ability, if you use the king’s ability against an inferno tower it would be attacking it with max damage for much longer, and I could see an inferno tower kill a king before a monolith could

@@goldoum yea. Look at the highest hp troop in the game, the mountain golem, is practically the same as a level 1 giant against this guy. The monolith is worthy enough to be the first normal village defense to make it to the clan capital, but reasons like that would make it TO op
The thing about the monolith is that it's percentage based, so no matter how strong the target is, it's always going to take 6 or less shots, meanwhile the inferno tower is dps based so it will take longer or shorter depending on the targets hp
Is curious that the inferno is actually faster killing multiple troops since it changes target almost instantly you can see that with the super witch as the inferno kill her a little bit faster

Yup, single target infernos are surprisingly good vs skeletons, bats, and lava pups. Monolith would be worthless vs those.
You can basicly tell just from the first troop that the monolith is better since it gets bonus damage to higher troops. So it would out damage the inferno even more

there’s a set amount of damage the inferno can do, however with the monolith, it’s dependent on the troops hp, it’s basically how an earthquake spell works doing more damage to higher hit point buildings.
Crazy how TH15 can now have all their infernos set to multi and still be able to shred tanks with the Monolith
The special characteristic of the monolith is that he first inflict basic 200 DMG per sec and he also inflict 15% damage depending on the troop used

200 is the dps, since it attacks every 1,5 seconds each hit will be 300 and 15% of the targets max hp (at level 2)

i handle the monolith as a biiger inferno in my base, so I can make a nice and symetrical base that has all important quadrants covered with a great tank melter and this vid showed that it isn't a bad idea though of course you do have to make sure that all of them are covered by wizard towers and/or scattershots. Cuz each of them does struggle with dealing with multiple enemies
The advantage about the monolith is actually against damaged tanks troops. A single inferno will not kill a half health pekka twice as fast, as it needs to charge up first, and when it’s fully charged it kills pretty much everything in less then 2 seconds. But a monolith will guaranteed kill it in half the time because it does a percentage of the targets maximum health not there current health and it doesn’t have to charge for 5.25 seconds to get that maximum damage.
Single inferno takes a bit to do a lot of dmg and does make sense because it’s unlocked at th10 and monolith does tons of dmg considering it’s unlocked at th 15 so they have upsides and downsides

Even of you remove the base dmg. Max health dmg per sec is 15% at lvl 2, obviously it will kill everything in 7 shot (7 shot x 15%max hp= 105% total hp) Except for heroes ofc with their abilities.
actually if you base it on max dps only, single inferno still have higher max dps highest hp troop - ice hound = 10,000hp 15% hp damage + 220 base dps 1500 + 220 = 1720 max damage of monolith =1720dps max damage of inferno = 2400 dps its just that inferno takes more time to reach peak damage

Take more time to reach peak damage = lower dps. Max dps doesn't really matter when the troop ain't have crazy HP.

It does make sense if you think about it, multi infernos are generally better than single infernos, and the monolith shouldn't be weaker than the weak setting on just one inferno
Well that was great. % damage wasn't expected in Clash of Clans, but I'm glad they did find a way to add it to the game. I like how Supercell is adding more and more % things into the games (specially brawl stars)
Monolith got no idea what inferno made us feel when we were th8 and th10 was max level.

I just unlocked the Monolith and immediately used a hammer for lvl 2. I'm finding it very difficult to say which defense I prefer, especially now that the extra damage has changed from 15% to 12%. I personally think that Inferno Towers are better for destroying troops, while the Monolith can do a lot of damage so that other defenses can finish it off. The advantage to the Inferno Tower is that you get 3 of them and it shoots a constant beam, but the disadvantage is that it needs to charge before it reaches its full potential and can be reset. The Monolith does enormous damage with every shot and does not need to be charged and cannot be reset, but it does not fire continuously and you only get one.
Inferno: that's my victory Monolith already looking at it : yeah .... that's right
Reason why Monolith was always going to be better: Doesn't need to build up. And supposing multiple defenses are hitting the same target as the monolith the sliver of health it leaves a lot of higher HP troops with before the final shot would be taken care of. For that same reason freeze and zaps wont reset its DPS. And since it scales off of percentage, the higher the health of a troop the bigger of a gap between which defense is better will increase, the Monolith obviously taking 1st place.

Monolith is also targeting who has the highest hp the
you have to consider the warden ability as well if a the single is locked on to a tank through the warden ability it will heat up and melt it straight after but the monolith won't build up the damage the same way

And then you must consider spells aswell since Inferno can be reset by Freeze or Lightning but not with Monolith.
monolith shoots partially in percentage so thats why its slightly faster every time

Not that it matters much but wardens ability can make a difference in the interactions.
Its surprising to think about but the monolith has 200 dpos + the percent damage at base level so its like a cannon + inferno that doesnt have charge time I think that single infernos take too long to charge

Both are very good against high hp, Single inferno kills your troop overtime, as to give you time to destroy, reset or freeze it. Whereas Monolith is straight up scary as you don't want to let it hit your high hp troop once or twice
well if the monolith gets off 6 shots faster than the single inferno ramps up then it is going to win every fight against high hp troops. the only time the single inferno would win is against many weak troops since its attack rate is much faster and against heroes like barb king and champion that recover health so take more than 6 monolith shots to kill, also only assuming no freeze spell is used, monolith also has 1 more range so it starts attacking a bit sooner. even saw with the super witch inferno only won because it retargeted instantly

I knew instantly monolith would be winner because we all know single inferno has one drawback it needs to charge. Whereas monolith starts the damage with full dmg and also more hp means more time to charge for inferno but, for monolith more hp means more dmg means even faster takedown
Let's not forget the inferno Tower has be debuffed as u can see it really only shows its potential when it's beam is fully charged that health jus drops fast

Its could be possible but its going to obtain «only » 5% or 6 max 7,5% of the max life and no extra damage but can have multiple target and have more range

I still think when a single shot inferno tower locks it’s too late for troop it targeted, but the monilith is better due to its dps but also the speed it’s able to attack

I think it’s so much faster because of the early lead it gains in damage
theres something you missed the monolith deals more damage quicker so other defences can kill it but the inferno did the damage when the beam is bigger

At least now I could justify putting at least one of my inferno towers on multi when I'm TH15. Cuz at TH12 I've found all single inferno is best since most people attacking me use mass electro dragons.
Even if the inferno did better at killing, the monolith does that crazy damage instantly, you could always wait till the last moment to freeze an inferno but with the monolith it's going to do so much you can't wait to freeze.

If a target doesn't recieve healing, it can only take up to 7 shots for the monolith to destroy a target. Still though, there currently aren't any targets in the home village that require more than 6 hits to get destroyed. THEORETICALLY yeah, the monolith would perform very well at unrealistically high health pools.

I think Singles are still more detrimental to Queen Charges than the monolith, given that a rage can likely help queen heal through monolith but not an inferno’s max beam
Yes, Monolith is indeed strong but don't forget the fact that the Inferno is there from TH10 up to the TH15 to give you a good line up of defense.

It’s impossible for anything to survive 7 shots, even with 1 bilion hp it’s 15% (150 mil)+200 damage and only 7 shots to kill
There both good defense’s. Monolith just kills a bit faster since inferno has to charge up. Both still do massive damage

Good thing Monolith lv 2 was the first thing I've built after upgrading TH.
Factor in heal spells and I think inferno would win. Realistically speaking, monolith is the new shiny toy for th15, so it's gotta be able to take on th15 offenses.
Monolith also does splash damage for smaller troops
While it's not it's purpose, because of no cooldown between attacking, the single target inferno can deal with lower HP spammy troops easier than the monolith so this doesn't mean that single target inferno is a worse tower, just not quite as good at destroying tanks

even if the troops is more hp it's nothing , because the power of the new defense is to take the percent of the troops hp , example if the hp of troops is 10,000 , and the damge of the new defense is to take 10% of his hp per second in 1sec = 1000hp , that's how it is make easy to kill even more hp troopses

If you know percentage, you will know that increasing max hp doesn't matter since it is a percentage damage.
The era of single target is over, & hence monolith shall become fear of army....
The Monolith is just an improved and re skinned version of the single imo. It will make some attacked harder having the Monolith in bases but I actually think the spell towers are the more creative defences they added in TH15

For me they still different but both are tank melter, Monolith are weak against warden ability compared to Inferno and Inferno is weak against freeze (which is much more common strat for th 10 and 11)

Inferno tower is still a Menacing defense in just TH10, I'm much more adapted to Air attack and this defense can easily melt my tanks and focusing some of spells just to delay or try to destroy it.
Honestly if i can share my opinion put one super wizards and four or five healer against a monolith,monolith can take down the wizards even if this building have ability that more damage when enemy more stronger
The monolith do 15% damage of the max health of the target per hit. So it mean it can basicely 7 shoot any troops in the game, even if they ave like 100 000 000hp. Inferno tower just can't do that.
