MONOCHROMATIC PAINT TECHNIQUE with new Fusion colour HAZELWOOD! Mid Century Style Dresser Flip
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I thought I'd try something a bit different with these two damaged laminate dressers. The tops of both were water damaged and had many, many raised areas to deal with. I recently bought a jar of Fusion Mineral Paint's new colour Hazelwood, a warm medium grey, and instead of doing something "typical" for me, I opted to try out a monochromatic look using only that colour... painting the top and sides, and doing a wash on the drawers. I've done it before with whites and off-whites but nothing darker, so it's definitely a bit of an experiment!

Exactly! You are incredibly talented and don’t have to apologize for your artistic choices, which I think is stunning! I LOVE the gray wash. Of course I love anything in the gray tones vs beige/browns when it comes to neutral colors. And the pop of black for the hardware is just chefs kiss perfection. Well done, Angie!!💜
I bag on these laminate pieces all the time “ New from Montgomery Ward’s ( in 1974 ! ) the Crapola Collection from the Fauxwood line! “ or something like that. But you’re right, they have stood the test of time. And they have at least three things going for them. 1. They’re usually cheap, making for a better margin 2. No one is going to call them antiques and bag on you for painting them and 3. In keeping them out out of the landfill they won’t get ground up for compost and poison someone’s tomatoes. In addition they usually turn out well ( yours did ) so it’s a winning proposition all around.

I have a laminate top table that I kept on my screen porch so there is some water damage. But the size, shape and solid wood legs are good, so you inspire me to keep it and repair it.
Never thought that damage to laminate could be covered up. I have a whole new appreciation for their potential. Thank you. Btw your videos get better every time. You are a natural at teaching!
Of course it's not everyone's cup of tea, lots of us like coffee, but i think we're all here because of your great vision and beautiful energy, that's what we all like❤️

You did a beautiful job, as always. These are very sophisticated and contemporary. They have a kind of West Elm vibe, I think. I’m really impressed with the work you did on the damaged tops. It’s a joy to watch you transform furniture into something wonderful and useful.🌸
I’m always sad when your video ends. I’ve already watched all of your videos, and even rewatched a couple. What am I supposed to do the rest of the week?! ☺️

Beautiful transformation. Don’t apologize for doing something new - trust your instincts. They turned out great!
Those drawer handles are wonderful. And while I love colour (there can never be enough pink, yellow, green and turquoise for me), I can appreciate the understatedness of the greys.
I've been binge watching again. And again. And again. If I'm right and I'm psychic, you'll reach half a million subscribers by the end of 2023. I love all your projects. You're the pro we all want to watch. You put in the effort and it shows. You don't just slap paint on the furniture. You lovingly restore it to its useful place on the planet. You have had my admiration for 1.5 years now and I'm hooked for life. I had a shop many years ago Pat's Refinishing Of Old Furniture "PROOF" is in the workmanship. I'm 78 now but you tease me into thinking about another round of hard work and JOY. I've got nothing to lose and the products today are a far cry forward of what I had available many years ago...not to mention Amazon for supplies. Thanks Angie, for inspiring so many of us who love wood.

What a transformation. I like the color and glad you kept the hardware. I thoroughly enjoy your content and your calming presentation. I'm learning a lot from you. Thanks! (Ohio - USA)
I love the monochromatic look and the warm gray! Washing the drawers to contrast the smooth texture of the painted surfaces and the pop of the black hardware make the look for me.
You've made me fall in love with mid century pieces.
Understated. Tasteful. Minimal. ❤❤❤
I love that you rescue these pieces from the trash heap and transform them into beautiful functional furniture again. Kudos!
GORGEOUS and PRECIOUS!!!!
I think they're gorgeous ❤
The work you do on things I consider junk is inspiring. Unlike most folks, you have turned trash into treasure. Bravo
This is a gorgeous restore. I love the drawers! That they show the wood grain. It is simple and classic with a hint of modern. I REALLY enjoy working on the laminate pieces the most. It’s like a treasure chest
Totally elegant and classy. Even my husband was impressed. Thanks to you I think I've convinced him to go the 'rescue and upcycle' route for our upcoming furniture needs!

As someone who personally prefers, old, solid wood, pieces, l think you always do the best make overs, on mid century furniture. I think these are gorgeous, and you should have no trouble at all selling them. Don't doubt yourself!
They look beautiful!
In a word…..Stunning!
You know, you have put out some real food for thought in my head. Working with these old laminate pieces is a real challenge that you stood up to with class and style. Love it.
Very nice, looks elegant
I admire your ability to start with an absolute worthless piece of garbage and turn it into a beautiful piece of furniture. My daughter and I learn a lot from you. Thanks
I NEVER would have considered redoing a piece like this. You have this turned it into a great looking piece. Congrats.!!!
Wow! Those two pieces are beautiful, I love the way they turned out!
From all the pieces you've created, I don't know which is my favorite piece. You've done such an awesome job on your makeover's. As always your a master builder at heart!

You opened my eyes to these future beauties. Thanks for showing us how to transform them to a new life. Smiles!
You must be Canadian! No need to apologize for trying new things, we live for it. Always want to see what you do and you never disappoint!!
Good tip to mark the jar for mixing the paint wash
Is it me or does this color just bring out the best colors of any wood near it? Love love what you were able to accomplish with these otherwise sturdy pieces.
Bonsoir Angie! Wow just wow, I just love those... we should call you the rescuer of beat up furniture! So much inspiration! Merci! Christine 🇨🇦

Wow! Absolutely beautiful!
I appreciate your purpose of finding a second life for any type of furniture. Laminate is fine if its isn't horribly damaged. Fact is that not all of us can afford solid wood furniture, so laminate is a staple. Keeping the plastic/chemicals out of the environment is a noble task. Dont pay too much attention to those negative commenters. Let them find the solid wood pieces and refinish them to the quality that you do. Your work is beautiful and your videos educate us "poor" folk that can't afford new furniture but can afford refinishing pieces. Thank you for your work.

I think this came out as a very sophisticated color scheme. I love it
I love these subtle pieces. Just enough contrast to make a statement!
I love the understated color scheme, it looks elegant on these modest dressers 😊
I just found you! You’re one of the few people who mentions sanding OFF while also making the sanded area level. I see furniture people sanding down but not showing that they need to level off the entire piece! Yay!
Holy moly! Who would have thought this was even possible! 👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼
I think those look super cool! The wash turned out so nice, and that warm color that the finish produced is just perfect for the right room. So satisfying to watch these pieces be given a 2nd life!
You are an artist so NEVER apologize for your artistic choices 😉! Your work is amazing and the fact that you push yourself out of comfort zone is why your work is always SPECTACULAR!! 👏🏽👏🏽

I LOVE IT! I couldn't imagine what in the world happened when you showed us the damage from the rain, but you surely took it in stride! I think I would have died! Then again, you took that piece from hideous to show stopping, so the rain just slowed you down a bit. I love the gray wash with the full strength gray, and honestly would have loved the pieces even if they had been all paint, or all wash. You just have an amazing eye and I have love the outcome of every project you've tackled. Not once have I thought, "I wish she'd chosen a different finish". Thanks for sharing! As always, the outcome is so on point!

I guess ~dark & moody~ is working! For me the beauty of grey is it's ability to be lovely with any color. The paint/wash combo is soft. I really like it Angie!! Bravo..🌷🌷
Hazelwood makes a beautiful wash. Love it.
I love them! Fusion has such nuanced colors and I especially love a neutral like this that doesn't feel flat because you can pick out so many different tones. I just finished my very first dresser refinish yesterday, it was a laminate piece like these with solid wood drawers, pulls and legs and I'm SO happy with how it turned out. When it's a crummy laminate piece to begin with you really can't go wrong, especially as a beginner! Very low stakes. I was very much inspired by you (although I went dark for mine, black paint and mahogany stain, I know you like the light and airy!), and your videos helped me so much with the process! Thank you Angie 🥰
