I am happy that the movie is set in India and reflects an Indian ideology. Monkeypaw is a production company established by Jordan Peele. The name is inspired by the short horror story called The Monkey's Paw by the English author W.W. Jacobs. Sharlto Copley (District 9) plays the role of the announcer in the trailer.

Well not an idealogy, but a mythological hero. Hanuman was the closest aide of Lord Rama, the 7th avatar of the god, Vishnu. Hanuman was instrumental in the war, where Rama fought Ravana to rescue his kidnapped wife. Hanuman is the physically strongest hero in hindu mythology, he is now worshipped as the god of health, fitness, strength and courage.

@@Mangolite ye I mean being mythological does not equate to being non-religious. Christianity is alternatively referred to as Abrahamic mythology and Hinduism is alternatively referred to as hindu mythology.

Apparently this was supposed to go to Netflix, but Jordan Peele saw it and bought the rights insisting it should be a theatrical release

yes john wick is different but i hate to break it to ya, Monkey Man is a hollywood movie and the inevitable comparisons to john wick should be expected.

The movie seems ok but I highly criticise the use of Saffron Triangle flags to represent "bad side" also the villain is shown wearing a Pearl Rudraksh mala which are worn usually by saints, this colour and this shape of flag plays a critical role in our faith and lifestyle and we can't take made narratives around it!!
