Inspired by the legend of Hanuman, an icon embodying strength and courage, Monkey Man stars Patel as Kid, an anonymous young man who ekes out a meager living in an underground fight club where, night after night, wearing a gorilla mask, he is beaten bloody by more popular fighters for cash.
After years of suppressed rage, Kid discovers a way to infiltrate the enclave of the city’s sinister elite. As his childhood trauma boils over, his mysteriously scarred hands unleash an explosive campaign of retribution to settle the score with the men who took everything from him.
Packed with thrilling and spectacular fight and chase scenes, Monkey Man is directed by Dev Patel from his original story and his screenplay with Paul Angunawela and John Collee (Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World).

I am telling everyone on this thread right now that this movie needs to be seen. I just watched it last night and it was genuinely refreshing new material in terms of plot. I had no idea about the political and religious unrest India has been facing but I know now. This movie absolutely encompasses everything a revenge movie should without being over the top in terms of acting. As he mentioned he pulled some revenge fights and etc from Korean revenge movies and it shines through. The fight sequences are FIGHT sequences he doesn't hold back. If you go into this thinking it is John Wick it is but it isn't John Wick seems more of an immortal character in comparison because some how he never dies or passes out, Dev Patel definitely passes out and he is fighting for his life. In every sequence its pretty much all hand to hand combat throughout the film. Dev Patel is amazing in the film and I knew that from his history of acting but also his care and attention to detail he had in this film. I am happy he partnered up with Jordan Peele to execute this BEAST of a movie (he definitely could have done it on his own, but it is great when the movie is shared and collaborated on). Also, I love the fact that yes it is about the main character but you know there is way more to this story line than just him. He is fighting for his people not just for himself. I realized this when the movie didn't reveal his real name ever, he knew he had a part to play that was way bigger than him. I am pleading everyone to please watch this film and support them it is by far the best film I have watched this year (I understand the year basically just started and I need to watch A Quiet Place 3 to see where this movie stands for my list of top films this year)...Okay that is all I have to say....Also the soundtrack is amazing....Okay bye.
