Monkey Beaver 2.0 Arborist Review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I purchased this tree climbing harness at the beginning of this year and I am finally ready to discuss my experience and share my thoughts on the harness. I hope you guys find this video helpful in your purchase. Also, check out August Hunicke on KZread!

The second saddle is a Weaver Cougar which I rock. Love it but I put a rope bridge on it by adding two Petzlopen rings.

You want it to shift some lower the leg pads it's far better.the rings can be switched for bigger rings.i use double bridges with swivels and rings ..it's better than running on bridge and less wear. Get some swivels it's game changer

Great review. I absolutely love mine. Just thought I'd point out that the rope bridge uses double overhand stopper knots. I don't like stepping through to put my harness on either, so I just untie one side of the bridge... only takes a few seconds to re-tie.

That's a good idea..I don't like stepping through ( or risking stepping on ) my $800 MB 2.0 😂 so I'll probably start undoing my bridge knot

I do the same thing. It also forces you to inspect your bridge every day and rotate for even wear. Most climbers will run their bridge in the same orientation unit it wears through. It's so nice to put the saddle on like a tool belt instead of stepping through leg loops.

At least you have some forestry pro in back ground .that gets points .best all around rigging rope and half-inch is climb line as well. Alot of new age cats don't know but the Canadian loggers used that rope long long ago and still do..

If you have suspenders on the MB Harness to get in to it I hold the belt up by the suspenders w/ the bridge facing towards you step over the bridge then turn the belt as you pull it while putting suspenders on. I find it the easiest to get into as well as most comfortable harness I ever used.

First of all those metal snaps are far safer them those newer aluminum 3 action snaps ..climbing arborist had one fail along with others ...secondly you showed a weaver cougar and that bridge you complained about can be taken off and you can put the same rigging paws rock exotica that monkey beaver has or any other kind u want.3rd the m o nkey beaver is the best I have 3 old and new .but the cougar can be turned into a 0.5 version..the modular back pad allowing custom hangers on new beaver is key..4th in comments and the video everyone is talking about stepping in ..BUT YOU DONT NEED TO.the monkey beaver can come with a adjustable bridge 7ft with rope grap or you can use a CT rolling lock like I do with zippties works great got that from my buddy Richard mumford. He uses it Daily..and finally you don't want your leg pads tight .that's the point of the new beaver saddle s as well to run them loss and the extra strap keeps them in place .it works great designed by joe

Do you have measurable evidence that the steel snaps are a "far safer" choice? I'm assuming they go through the exact same quality control tests before hitting the market. One guy having equipment fail doesn't necessarily represent the truth.

I have the black buckingham saddle from the beginning of the video. The company I work for gave me a newer Buckingham that I absolutely hated, so a coworker gave me the black one (which is what the company used to issue years ago). It’s what got me started in climbing and my instructor used it once and told me I should get New climb gear but I really enjoy it. I have never tried a monkey beaver but I just can’t justify spending that much on a saddle when I have one that works.

I used the black saddle since 2011 years. It failed on me yesterday. The sewing to the bridge from your hip let go. I was done and repelling down . Didn't fall but went wildly sideways. More embarrassing than anything. If yours is old replace it regardless of cost.

There's no other saddle as comfortable period...especially adding on the velcro inserts leg pads it's beyond any saddle little warm in summer but everything included ing pants are it's just hot..best work saddle in production ..with suspenders it's not matched by any other..unless you just do trimming pruning...nothing compares

Advice: put a swivel on the bridge, I've used one for more than a decade, only replaced it a day or two ago because I replaced a bridge and noticed after over a decade the metal in the swivel ring was getting THIN, so I advise replacing it every decade 😂

Haix XR200 Airpower. They are very comfortable and you can get the original insoles if you wear them out. But lots of chips and debris falls down into them when you're working and there is no high-top option.

Is that Bridge ring some sort of a joke? Its literally useless, it actually doesn't do anything to make the saddle any better! This looks like an amazing product with great quality and thought put into it... So for that ring to the one they chose to use. It really doesn't go with the rest of the saddle. Yes it can be removed and u can get aftermarket. But on a saddle at this price point. That shouldn't be something you should have to do. If it were just a smidge bigger. I think id give it a 10/10 review. So even tho i have a bit of a gripe with it. Its very minor and i still rate this saddle right up there with the Tree motion pro.
