... but why did they kill the manager?

Monk Synopsis: Adrian Monk (Emmy®-winner Tony Shalhoub) was once a rising star with the San Francisco Police Department, legendary for using unconventional means to solve the department's most baffling cases. But after the tragic and still-unsolved murder of his wife, Trudy, the devastated Monk becomes obsessive-compulsive. His psychological disorder has caused him to develop an abnormal fear of virtually everything: germs, heights, crowds... even milk. Monk's condition costs him his job, but he's back as a police consultant despite the unique challenges he encounters in his everyday life. These challenges lead Monk to hire a personal nurse, Sharona Fleming (Bitty Schram), who is always there to offer her assistance, even with the simplest of tasks (like organizing his sock drawer). Her less-than-subtle prodding keeps the "defective detective" on track in his investigations, as well as in his efforts to convince Captain Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) to allow him to return to the force.
The Official Channel devoted to the brilliance of DI Adrian Monk; the defective San Franciscan detective, whose OCD is both a blessing and a curse. We'll be posting the very best moments from the show so, like Monk, you'll never miss a beat.

Here's what happened : stottlemeyer found they can transmit a message on Digital moving sign "help..... Trapped in vault .... Call 911 " but nobody was outside of the bank but Randy knew the silver man was performing outside of the bank and always watching so he transmitted a message to get help and they were rescued.

At least Monk barely argued with Stottlemeyer about using Trudy’s bracelet.😢 Them being locked in a vault would certainly be a terrible way to go.😥

Honestly it's easier than it sounds. After 5 minutes your fingers will hurt and even if they all take turns it would still take hours to crack not accounting for dehydration, hunger and fatigue. Using the chair leg to pry the lock or the panel would be better than brute forcing the combination.

The lock has four dials, each dial is numbered 0-9 meaning 10 options per dial. That's 10000 combinations. It takes 1-2 seconds to slide each number and try so it would take maybe 3-6 hours assuming you're very methodical. On the other hand I refuse to believe the captains gun couldn't shoot and break a tiny padlock like that off. Especially if he went for multiple shots. Would actually like to see a mythbusters-style recreation to see if a diamond bracelet can in fact cut through metal like that.

Given that they prominently featured that outdoor electronic sign in two separate shots, is it wise to assume that the device behind the locked panel controls it? If so, why on earth would anyone (other than a television screenwriter trying to save Monk) install it in the safe?

I've seen stranger electrical installations. It's possible that the building wasn't always a bank and they repurposed a back room to be the vault. Added some reinforcements to the walls but kept the wiring the same.

That kind of lock is extremely easy to open in under a minute even for a one-armed blindfolded cripple as long as you know a trick to it. And even if you don't, it would still be easier to brute force the combination (4 symbols would take 2 hours at most) than filing down the handle. Wish they'd use a key based lock instead of a combination one.

  • @cir0plus

If by "most guilty" you mean who would get the harsher sentence, it would be the guy who turned off the air. He shuts the air off and claims that it gives them 9 to 10 hours. If anyone dies, he's most likely looking at 1st degree murder and will be sentenced to life in prison or the death sentence. The person locking them in could be charged false imprisonment on top of all the other charges. This is all on top of the federal bank robbing and other stuff.

  • @diehardrvdfan22
