3 years ago...after seeing 3 therapists that didnt work...i stumbled across a single video by the master of mind, mingyur riponche. It was a 3 min video on how to meditate anywhere - and he explained the monkey mind. You can see that video in KZread still. That monkey mind explanation clicked something in my perception on that night. I remember that night so clearly laying in bed 2am thinking about my issues...and that 3min video clicked something in my understanding that 3 seperate local therapists couldnt do. I watched all his videos after that. He fixed me that night and will be forever grateful to him. 🙏

The kind of meditation he teaches is the one I finally landed on. IT stuck because you don't need a thing to do it, you can do it anywhere, and the negative emotions and distractions can all be part of the meditation. It teaches you how to deal with these things in everyday life.

I like that this doesn’t involve a lot of the airy fairy forced positivity, spirituality white light or higher plane “zen-ness” that many of the meditation practices do - I’m not saying that is useful for some but I prefer a more no nonsense approach. I like how it is based on more of a practical here and now basic focus.

I love how human and down to earth Yongey is and how he naturally includes his “failures” and humanity in each story. He appreciates that as humans we are weak, flawed and imperfect and his reminders that perfection isn’t the goal rather to keep trying.

Thank you so much.. Listening to this interview helped me profoundly.. Tears of relief when Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche spoke about how we may have 9 good qualities but the mind hyperfocusses on that one bad quality and makes it seem like we are just that one thing. And shared how he dealt with anxiety as a child.. It both assured me, that yes, it is my karma and it's something to work through, but it does not mean I am all bad and it does not mean that I can not work through it and become someone one day, that will benefit others, too.. Like he is. One day. It helped me for a moment to let go of extreme anxiety that had me in its grip, or, I let it grip me, how ever you see it, for several weeks now.. It loosend up the grip and tears start falling and I could breath because of the words and the feeling of love radiating from this interview.. Thank you from my heart!

At 86 years of age, I have been meditating for quite a few years. I received instruction on vipassana during a 3-year stay with forest monks in Eastern Thailand. I have now observed a white spiral mental image emerging from my stomach whenever I determine it. I have also observed the room filled with golden light during a churning sensation in my lower spine. Are these forms of nimeta and are they hindrances. I live alone in isolation and without contact with a Buddhist teacher.

Meaning of awareness in the western perception is quite different from Tibetan Buddhist perception, awareness of what? Awareness of the logical and reasoned conclusion that your mind is intrinsically compassionate and knows no conceptions or biases. To reach such a conclusion one must be proficient in logic and must have an altruistic mind.

I love your videos. Your holiness don't you want to know and see where the first Tibetan Sangaram was opened solely for foreigners. This is north of Patna on the northern banks of the Ganges. Xuan Zangs lovely book led me to the Sangaram. According to him three Sramanas from across the SNOWY MOUNTAINS (From the area around 'Taro Co' lake in northern Tibet) crossed over to India on a pilgrimage to holy Buddhist sites. Indians fail to understand who they are and no one gives them food and shelter and sometimes beat them up. They were lying by the side of the road dying when the King rode up. He inquired about them and when they told him their story, the King realised a Sangaram was needed for foreigners only where Indians won't be allowed. So this can be regarded as the first Tibetan Sangaram in India. Those days Indians had pierced ears because they wore ear rings. Foreigners had unpierced ears so this Sangaram was for unpierced ears. Those days Indians didn't know about Tibet so this Sangaram was for unpierced years, meaning foreigners. Today that Sangaram is a village and that King is the local village deity. This story proves that Buddhism went to Tibet prior to Xuan Zangs epic journey to India. So Tibetans will have to study how and when Buddhism went to Tibet. Because Xuan Zang seems to infer that Buddhism went to Tibet much earlier than what the great masters claim today. I have made a video on this topic titled, ‘First Tibetan Sangaram in ancient India.’

Desperately chasing happiness, seeing happiness as an end, final goal or something you are entitled to rarely results in finding it. Happiness has become seen as a commodity rather that just one of the range of normal human emotions which by its nature is transitory.
