Monivea woods is a woodland right near the centre of Monivea village in Galway. There are various paths and trails to choose from making it a great place for a wander under tree cover. The trees also give great protection from the rain which is always handy when it comes to Irish weather!
Walk: there are two waymarked trails in the forest. The mass track trail is 1.3 Kms and the historical trail is 1.5 Km in length.
Explore nature: There is a rich understory of briar, fern, ivy, holly and grasses. Take time to observe the abundance of natural regeneration growth of beech, ash, hazel and holly on the forest floor - this is largely due to the amount of light that is able to penetrate through the canopy. -
