Monitoring Earth’s Vital Signs with NISAR: Meet the Mission Engineers (Live Q&A)
Ғылым және технология
A new NASA Earth science mission is currently being built and tested at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. NISAR - or the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar - is an Earth-orbiting satellite that will collect critical data on how the planet is responding to climate change. But before it can begin its science, JPL engineers must design and build the unique technology that will set it apart, including the largest reflector antenna ever launched by NASA.
In this live Q&A, we’ll talk with two NISAR mission team members and answer your questions about what it takes to monitor Earth’s vital signs.
Guests:
Wendy Edelstein, payload manager, NASA JPL
Richa Sirohi, systems engineer, NASA JPL

Always exciting and nerve wracking when the mission you’ve worked on for years gets ready for launch. The dual S and L bands will be very useful for agriculture. Great work JPL and ISRO teams!
I am involved with Agriculture projects in North Africa. I look forward to data that covers N. Africa and how it can help map the future agriculture strategy.
*Thanks **#NASA** **#JPL** for this video.*
Proud of this partnership between two great nations. Next year will be extremely vital for Indian Space Research Organisation as India will be sending their astronauts to space for the first time ever from Satish Dhawan Space Center in Tamil Nadu, India.
That was interesting
Amazing!

2024 from an Indian GSLV rocket.
Is the data that is downloaded the same for all satellites? #AskNass

No. it depends on the instruments on board the satellite.
Can it detect ufos in our atmosphere?
@TheRealSkeletor

Pretty sure it's focused on the ground. RADAR can absolutely be configured to detect objects in the atmosphere, though.

it seems all good and stuff - maybe a slight pump in the budget would be cool. Earth is an interesting place for sure
👍

It will launch by India

Has anyone looked-up Satelloons?...they've been around since the 1950s and NASA is still using them.
Will it predict the impending ice age?

😂😂😂😂and where is the helium balloon, you forgot to show it? because this thing certainly does not go into space!

Dude! You don't think space is what they say it is? Just because it all looks so fake that doesn't mean that it is. I mean, it obviously is but these people are not ready to consider that. And what are you talking about helium balloons? Are you trying to sound crazy?

Missions are incomplete without that balloon.
