The second film about our big trip to Mongolia together with @EvgenyShatalov
After passing the border in the area of the Mongolian settlement Tsagaannuur we went to Ulgiy where we purchased local SIM cards and changed money. Since the border passing took 9 hours there was no time left to search for picturesque places to organize a field camp. After spending the night at Ulgiy we continued to move to the south of the country admiring the beauty of the Mongolian Altai (Mong. Ektag-Altai). I remember the picturesque road along the valley of the Bulgan-gol River flowing through the Bayan-Ulgiy and Khovd regions.
Somewhere around village Bulgan desert and mountain landscapes began to noticeably prevail - the Mongolian Altai was gradually replaced by the Gobi Altai (Mong. Gov-Altai), which meant that the Gobi Desert was already very close!
We visited the pearl of the Great Gobi Reserve - Mount Eej Khairkhan uul (translated from Mong. "Mother Mountain"), having bathed in one of its 9 "cauldrons" (wells) which are a series of separate rock basins (craters) filled with water.
On the way to the southern region Bayankhongor near the village of Bayantoroy we met farms with combines and haystacks right in the middle of the desert. It turned out that this is an irrigated agricultural settlement in the oasis of the Gobi desert belonging to the regional centre Tsogt.
