[ MongoDB 11 ] Deploying a Replicaset using OpsManager

In this video, I will show you how to use OpsManager to deploy a MongoDB replicaset and start managing it. In my previous video, I explained how to install OpsManager. Please watch it, if you haven't already watched it.

Thanks a lot. These are very helpful. How ever we want to setup TLS and Auth (with x509) through OPS manager. However there isn't details available for doing that. We tried many ways but no luck yet. Would you be help with any pointers to do that?

Hi Rakesh, thanks for watching. I am not much into performance tuning. It depends whether you want to look at the performance at the server level or at the query level. If at the query level, you can enable profiling and set up indexes if your collection is huge. I have done few videos on how to deploy MongoDB in kubernetes. You can find it in this playlist. kzread.info/dash/bejne/iWGgrLpsj9irZaw.html This is a 2 part video. Cheers.

Hi Venkat, really good videos for mongo replicationset installation via ops-manager, i have been searching for this . DO you have any videos on BI-connector installation via ops-manager . Anyway thanks a lot for this video.

Hi Prashanth, thanks for watching. There should be an option to enable BI Connector in your replicaset from the OpsManager dashboard. I have seen that and worked with BI Connector.

Hi Venkat, I have a question and my use case is below I need to manage a cluster of mongodb instances using OpsManager My architecture is OpsManager Application in one machine and Ops Manager Database in another. For snapshot store S3, I will install agents for instances in cluster. To add this cluster in my ops manager application for managing, what deployment should I use?

  • @justmeandopensource

Hi Kevin, thanks for watching. Once you have a working ops manager setup, you can build a replicaset or import an existing mongo replicaset by installing the automation agent on them. I would advise you to setup ops manager in a HA fashion instead of installing it on a single machine. Ops manager itself has databases that needs to be setup as replicaset.

  • @kevinchristopher1709

Venkat, So the deployment types replica set, standalone, sharded are for HA of Opsmanager. Then which way we can add the cluster (which we need to manage) to Opsmanager.. Once we install the agent will it be automatically added? This is the part i am confused

  • @justmeandopensource

@@kevinchristopher1709 Once you have your opsmanager running and you have logged into the UI, you have an option to build the cluster. You will also have an option to import existing replicaset. You will also be given instructions on how to install the automation agent which when completed, will be available in the opsmanager UI.

Hi Venkat, Can you please update these automation agents work on which port

  • @justmeandopensource

    @justmeandopensource

    4 жыл бұрын

Hi Deepak, thanks for watching. Sorry I couldn't remember the port the automation agent runs on. You can always check that yourself on the machine where automation agent is running by checking the output of "sudo netstat -nltp". You can also configure which port it should listen on by updating its configuration file. I don't have this environment right now for a quick testing to answer your queries unfortunately. Cheers.

Hi Ming, thanks for watching. I know I am replying to a very old comment and by now you would have figured it out. Anyways, backup agents are necessary if you want to do backups and monitoring agents are compulsory as that is the way opsmanager manages your mongo deployments. Cheers.

I Have 4 server ( 20,21,22 in these mongo is installed and replicaset is made and all are centos 8) , (31 server is ops manager server in which I install mongo and ops manager) ,I installed agent on 20,21,22 but when I make new replica set on 31 server for both 3 server , I am getting error [@.296] Error downloading url=fastdl.mongodb.org/linux/mongodb-linux-x86_64-rhel80-4.4.4.tgz to /var/lib/mongodb-mms-automation/mongodb-linux-x86_64-4.4.4 : and same message for remaining replicaset

your videos are awesome, please help me, I am establisihing ops manager , everything is going smooth , but at the time , making replica set for all 3 server at my production server I am getting error , because it is unable to download 'download mongodb binaries' , I have no internet connection on that server , So please help me that internet is required for that and what is the solution for that.

  • @justmeandopensource

Hi Sudhir, thanks for watching. You will be downloading all the required binaries and libraries from the opsmanager server. So if you have internet connection for the ops manager server, you should be fine. I remember in one of those steps, you can choose whether to download it on each replicaset node directly from the internet or to download it from the opsmanager server. I assume your production servers are locked out of internet but you would have some way to update/patch your servers right? May be you have a local repository mirror server that you use to download and install packages.
