money pit - a strong foundation is most essential
Комедия
this particular scene in the film, "the money pit" really gets me of late... with all relationship squabbles taking place all around me of late that of which includes near and dear friends and family... I think it is vitally important to remember the simple message at the end of this movie... as long as you have a strong foundation built upon love all else can be constructed around it and within its infrastructure...

The Shirk Brothers came through in the end, saving the house and the marriage.
One of the best movies from the 80s among with planes trains and automobiles 80s moves have a special soul that today movies lack

I agree with you homer! The movies of today do in fact lack that heart and soul that was found in the movies of the 80’s. We just do not have John Hughes and Harold Ramos’ today.

Yes they do. It was crushing when he realized that John Candy's wife was deceased and beautiful that he invited him back home to dinner with his family. Mand I sound like a B.TCH with my posts on this thread :) Like I said in another post, I'm a bitter, cynical, miserable middle aged man now. But in the 80s I was a strong young man full of hopes and dreams and able to watch a movie that didn't address EVERY SINGLE CUTTING EDGE social policy going on. Simpler days. Beautiful days. Ciao and have a good day

I watched this movie over 30 years years ago and that line has stayed with me to this day. I have used it many times to help me through a few times in my life.

@@everythingbobbywolfe Sometimes we humans think we are the only ones that CAUGHT something in a movie, that PICKED UP on a line or lines that NO ONE ELSE in the world picked up on or no one else understood the deeper meaning. It's very comforting when you find out you were never the only one that did. It makes one feel less alone and more a part of something.
Awesome awesome movie and one of the BEST movie lines ever delivered. 🤗🤗❤️👍🏻

Amazing how it transitioned from a comedy almost the entire time, to a very sad story (while maintaining the comedy) and then into a happy ending. And yes, those were just a few simple sentences from what most would consider an obscure movie. But the laughing clown foreman character ended up being quite a Wise middle aged man. And his words saved their marriage.
If you are watching this clip without watching the entire film you are doing yourself a great disservice.

You now, I LOVE this movie. But I was in a place tonight where I just wanted to see the ending and hear those lines. But that's EVIL to do :) So I watched the whole thing and DIED laughing and cheered myself up AND got to hear those great lines. They don't have nearly the same impact without watching the whole movie.

Me too! My daughter loves it as well!
I always forget the house DID get finished and they finally ended up with a beautiful, sturdy, and very valuable home with a lot of meaning and sentimental value in it. The house they had intended to buy did end up showing up, it wasn’t a money pit forever. By the end how could you say no to having the home of your dreams with the person you really do love and always have loved. It what they both always wanted!

I'm a pretty bitter, cynical, miserable 53 year old guy. Misspent life and all that. But I have to say that was a beautiful post. Now i'm gonna go back to being miserable :)

I love the flooring, see syn sometimes you need a reminder
From @2:51 to the end of the wedding ceremony was one of my most favorite parts throughout the movie!!
Tom Hanks is ridiculously youthful here.
Crazy, I just saw this ridiculous movie yesterday & today it shows up in my YT recommendations, yet it was uploaded 10 years ago.

This clip is from the end of the film. But my favourite bit is when Tom Hanks pours water into the bath and it falls through the floor.
I'm looking for the scene with the midget driving the go cart
