Money: "Hatton should quit" Mayweather tells former victim to walk away!

Спорт

The Manchester light-welterweight has not looked the same since being stopped inside 10 rounds by Mayweather, subsequently beating Juan Lazcano and Paulie Malignaggi before the crushing loss to Pacquiao.
And Mayweather believes Hatton has a much bigger role to play outside the ring - that of grooming young fighters to become future champions in his new guise as a promoter. Saying:
"My advice to Ricky Hatton is that his career is over, I think he should have stopped fighting after our fight," "He worked his whole life to get to that point, and he came up short.
"It's hard to keep gaining a lot of weight, losing a lot weight, to stay at that level, the wear and and tear on your body, so the best thing for Ricky Hatton I think is to try and go out and get all the young champions in the UK and get them under Hatton Promotions, and build your company to the best of your ability.
"Boxing is a brutal sport, it's like being a cop - one shot and it ends your whole career.
"I don't think Ricky should fight again. I wouldn't fight him again, even at Wembley. It would be like picking on a guy that we call 'gun-shot, gun-shot'.
"Once you've been knocked out in the way he was by me, it's always in the back of your mind that it can happen again. His head won't be the same."

absolutely. Floyd Mayweather is a supreme technical boxer, truly an all-time great. Most of his fights, he looks like he's got plenty in reserve too, he barely gets out of second gear. I can see why a lot of boxing fans don't like him - and he does box a little too defensively in my opinion - but there's no doubting his technical skills.

  • @slimithy12
    @slimithy1214 жыл бұрын

you can see why he loves the uk. people actually treat him with respect and just give him the chance to relax and feel like the true champion that he is. every interview he does in the states is like a police interrogation. yet they treat every other boxer like a hero, especially pacman. i really dont understand why the US hate him for being a show off when they promote that kind of behavior on tv and in hollywood all the time.

In certain respects I still think he could handle certain situations with a little more class, but overall I think he's a savvy business man, phenomenal boxer (I dare anyone to deny that) and smart man. I respect him and feel he's right in most cases about boxing.

This is exactly what happened to Floyd and anybody who fought Oscar DLH. Everything, down to the gloves were chosen by Oscar, because he was the big money fight that everybody wanted at the time, hence his "Goldenboy" nickname. When Floyd beat him, he became the one to call the shots. You didn't hear people calling Oscar a twat for doing what Floyd does now.

It was brutal...Ricky got lucky and if he continues i see a resemblance between him and Ali...Ali didn't care about being hurt permanently he just wanted to please the fans...Ricky's got to realise he has pleased the fans and he can out of the ring,

I thought Cotto did a good job going up and down through eight, but it took a lot out of him to do it, and after eight he started running out of gas. Castillo too did a good job working down and up. Definitely given his defense a body attack has to be included as a heavy part of any strategy to beat Floyd. It's what works against Pacquio, as his body attack isn't one of his strong suits anymore.

You don't know that. Judah straffed him with straight lefts early in their fight, and his straight left isn't half of what Pacquios is. Anyone who knows this sport knows that ther are limits to predicting fights and lots of fights don't go the way people anticipate they will. You can not say "he won't be able to". You can only say "I don't think he'll be able to". There are no exceptions to this rule.

He fought two fights at a catch weight - Oscar and Cotto. Oscar is the one who called Manny and offered him the fight at 145. That was Oscars idea. Now Floyd fought Cotto after Manny pummeled him, but that didn't count. Sure, Hatton lost to Floyd THREE FIGHTS prior to Manny fighting him, Hatton did not take a beating in that fight. Yet when Manny annihilated Hatton, Hatton was now tainted. It's an inconsistent arguement. It's also irrelevent.

I don't think Hatton was strong enough to do that to Mayweather. I don't think it had anything to do with the ref. Hatton was able to use that tactic when he fought at 140, but at 147 I don't think he had the strength to impose himself on floyd physically. Floyd is not a strong welterweight, but stronger than Hatton who never campaigned there. And Floyd was in superior shape to Hatton for that fight. Hatton's lifestyle habits were catching up to him at that point in his career.

He clobbered Bradley, the scoring was outrageous. As for how does he overcome Floyd's reach advantage? Speed. That's what the fight comes down to. Manny is faster than anyone, including Judah, that Floyd has ever fought. And he has a good chin so he can take it coming in. He'll be tough to discourage and Floyd ain't a big hitter. Watch Floyd's fight with Augustus, who is also not heavy handed. Floyd can be gotten to by a determined opponent.

No I'm not. I hope it doesn't happen, but too many boxers can't replicate that buzz outside of the ring, and do self destructive things while trying. Mayweathers actions suggest that he will be another to join that list. Please explain how I'm wrong.

Ricky Hatton was WBA, IBF, IBO light-welterweight champ, as well as the WBA welterweight title, you dummy. He didn't need any hype. There's no shame in losing to Floyd Mayweather, everyone loses to Floyd Mayweather.

+Klate Wilson He was overhyped imo. I don't think he really should've been in the same ring with Floyd in the first place but he gave us a GREAT fight. Who has Hatton fought? I don't mean that literally, it's just that he hadn't really fought the level of fighters Floyd and Manny have beaten
