This is not uncommon in Oklahoma. We never hear these stories on the news. That deputy was contacted by somebody that knew this man was carrying this money. The deputy gets a per centage if the money isn't recovered. If the owner can prove it was not for buying dope, in court he gets his money back. Many can't afford courts & lawyers & the cops keep their money. It's crooked as hell but these county DA's that get two pay checks are crooked as hell. Oklahoma has too many of these DA's along with the Surber family poisoning our youth with their meth.

My situation is minuscule compared to this story but, your statement is %100 true. I was arrested in 2019 on misdemeanor and minor traffic charges and a La. State Police officer removed $1,263 from my pocket. By the time I got to the jail, I was given a property sheet saying I only had $403 in my pocket. When I confronted the trooper, he vehemently denied it until the point I gave up asking bc it was of no use because I had no proof. That’s when it hit me... He purposely brought me to the rear of the vehicle so that the dashcam would not see him in action red handed. I could tell that this was a normal occurrence with these guys because of the way he did it so smooth. If it weren’t for his theft, I could’ve paid my own bail and been released the following day. But behold, the $403 he left me with was not enough to pay my bail and that I think, is the sole reason for him confiscating my money... So I wouldn’t be able to post bail the same day and would now have no choice but to contact family to have bail posted on my behalf.

Exactly...It appears they were buying farm land in OK in order to start a marijuana crop. Here is what the District Attorney said: Canadian County Assistant District Attorney Eric Epplin would not comment on the pending litigation but did refer to the claimant’s public comments. “We’re confident that their information is not accurate,” he said. Epplin spoke generally about the state statute that allows for the seizure of any funds from activities violating the Uniform Controlled Dangerous Substances Act. “An out-of-state person, for example, can’t come to Oklahoma and start their own marijuana farm,” Epplin said. “You have to be a resident of the state.” I don't agree their money should be taken, but this is how they are justifying taking it...it seems.
