Monet and the First Forays into Abstraction
Without Claude Monet, there is no Mark Rothko, no Jackson Pollock, no Clyfford Still. His masterful rendering of light, bold coloration and gestural brushwork were not just resplendent, they represented the first forays into abstraction. On this episode of Expert Voices, Brooke Lampley discusses Monet’s Coin du bassin aux nymphéas, which will be offered as a highlight of Sotheby's Modern Evening Auction on 16 November. Coin du bassin aux nymphéas represents one of the very best of Monet’s late works and exemplifies his tremendous influence on the generation of artists who would follow.

I could spend my life inspired by this beautiful depiction of Monet's reality.
Magnificent, the colours are unbelievable.😍
Mind-boggling how Monet could render such resplendent colors!
Such beauty. Blessed😇🙌🙏✌💛☺😍
Claude Monet was losing his sight. He had always placed his colors in the same position so he relied on memory for choosing what and how much. Thus the thicker strokes and deeper colors almost straight out of the tube. His works during this period are rich and marvelous.
Beautiful
멋찝니다~~~~
Saya mengagumi para impresionis, karena dari mereka kita dapat menjadi lebih berani untuk menemukan warna baru dalam berkesenian.
Gold frame
Stunningly beautiful-masterful in every sense, but, in the modern era Cezanne’s late period beat Monet to abstraction.
