This is possibly the best, 'least quartz like' ever. Simply a work of genius, the stopping hand, the setting of the time, the sweeping hand, I love it all.
Interesting that in the video we can watch as the minute hand gets more and more out of alignment with the minute markers. That's been a complaint I've read and to see it happen so easily definitle takes this watch off my want-to-buy list. Thanks for the great review!
"SBB CFF FFS" is actually "Schweizerische BundesBahn Chemins de Fer Fédéraux Ferrovie Federali Svizzere" and that means literally "Swiss Federal Railways" in the three main languages of Switzerland :)
That crown adjustment mechanism is just so cool!
Just bought it last week! I should have waited if I knew you were going to review this watch, but at the moment I'm 100% satisfacted, so it wouldn't have mattered for my choice.
When you adjust the time, you set the minute hand between two minute/second indicators - can you actually set it right, aligning it correctly ?
I've wanted this one for years... ah
Greetings from Switzerland :) Actually we don't have our own language but it is a strong dialect of "high" german from germany. It changes strongly from region to region although Switzerland isn't that big. We have 4 Official country languages: 1. German (Swiss German/Dialect) 2. French 3. Italian 4. Rumantsch (This is a rarely spoken, ancient language that sounds like a mix of all the three with a touch of english). Regarding the SBB CFF FFS text it stands for: German: Schweizerische Bundesbahnen French: Chemins de fer fédéraux suisses Italian: Ferrovie federali svizzere Here you go Ariel, keep up the good work!!

+G-FORCE Hi also from Switzerland! Regarding Rumantsch - I always say it sounds like a mix of Italian, Latin and German. Wikipedia says the relative proportions of languages spoken in 2013 are German French Italian Romansh other 63.9 22.5 8.1 0.5 21.7 Best regards Rob

O
thank you for your video the inscptions ont the dial is like you said, CFF in french : chemins de fer fédéraux (federal raiway) and the others letters for the traduction in italian and german
A cool special watch it is. On those 3 labels - yes, one of them is in german, one in french, and one in italian. :) Cheers!
Very cool watch, and concept!
Massdrop has this watch for $250 USD now.
the second hand only move 58 seconds for 360 degree and stop for the 2 last ones
Amazing watch!
Have you noticed that when the watch is set at 3:49 of this video the minute hand is between 18 and 19 minute. From now on the minute hand jumps in between minute markers. I had an old Tissot adjustable similar way but the minute hand would jump every full minute.

I believe that is just because when the crown is used to adjust the time it's a very fine adjustment for the second hand and it either goes on the mark or in between he just didn't adjust it properly

+Dan Evans My point is that such an expensive watch shouldn't allow for it. The seconds hand is on 12. Minute hand should jump from minute to minute while adjusting time. Especially with this cool stop and go feature.

+Peter Marszal yeah I agree but I believe it isn't that hard to actually adjust it to land on the markers at all, so it's not necessarily a huge problem, it probably just allows it to go halfway between markers to give it more of a smooth sweeping movement when adjusting.
This is super cool!
This is a fun watch. Very nice.
thank you for sharing, interesting watch, but what is the battery life, thanks

Pardon my ignorance, but if the second hand stops moving at the 12oclock to wait for the minute hand to move. Wouldn't the watch 'lose' a few seconds? Unless the second hand completes the full 360 degree turn in less then 60 sec. But this wouldnt be a true reflection of the second time would it?
@vansteel393

The second hand makes a full rotation in 58 seconds.
I have the Stop2Go and I love it. I do a lot of business in Europe and while I am on the Continent, I travel by train. As a conversation piece alone, it is worth the price. Overall it is a well made quality time piece. I especially like the accuracy. My colleague in Geneva is Swiss and speaks the local dialect, Romansh.
Can the second hand stop at other places then the 12 o'clock?

Does this watch require two batteries ? Just curious ... Good Vid

Rick Temmen No, it uses one CR2032 lithium battery. Very common battery.
fire!!!
Arrggghhh my OCD - why did this guy set the minutes hand in between the markers???? It can obviously be set right but he screwed it up
Nice technic/movement(s) but way to pricey and a design you'll only like if you're a swiss railway fan. If you want a smooth swiping second I'd recommend to go for a Bulova Accutron II. Nevertheless, good job, Mondaine.
Swiss Federal Railways (German: Schweizerische Bundesbahnen (SBB), French: Chemins de fer fédéraux suisses (CFF), Italian: Ferrovie federali svizzere (FFS)) is the national railway company of Switzerland.
That's an interesting piece .

I agree and have seen this watch and others in the range at Vintage Watch Co here in Brisbane. Dial is very easy to read. Not sure if I would purchase one though, leather bands don't last in the warm humid weather over here.

Hi
So, that means the seconds hand can’t be used to time things accurately? I think this watch would drive me nuts.
Bravo! 3 lingue. German italian french! 👍
The stop second hand function is called hacking
About a minute of this was castes during 9/11
Idk a bit mundane for me
Cool watch but too expensive

They're $320 on Amazon and other websites. MSRP is always much higher than what it sells for.

+TrilobiteTerror I guess I could. But we have strict import taxes and often the warranty isn't valid - unless is specifically says worldwide warranty. Add all that up and it doesn't work out much cheaper.

Umm
Interesting idea, but I couldn't wear a watch that the minute hand doesn't land on the actual marker. That'll drive me batty!

It's just how he set the hands, they can be aligned properly.
@Jthe5th

@@z00h It is known the watch misalignment of minute hand will happen sooner or later even if you have properly used the crown in the first place. There are issues where sometimes even the second hand misaligned with the 12 hour mark.

minute hand not being positioned correctly. #mondaine
I want this watch so bad!!! I'M NOT SPENDING $500 ON A WATCH! Anyone know some other knockoff watch that has stop2go feature, this CANNOT be the only watch in existence that does this

Probably, you can patent technology but not an entire concept like that surely? You can't OWN 'the second hands stops then the minute hand moves' right? I feel that'd be just like owning 'skeleton watches' or 'watches with roman numerals' on them or something.
@MrReddevil1972

+Mister Captain Sure you can. Even Apple had to change their watch-design in iOS.
im i the only one who doesnt like the movement? It looks like a faster quartz. It's a 870$ CANADIAN watch !!
That watch is Not worth what their asking for it !!! $675 No way

That's just the MSRP (which is almost always a good amount higher than what you can actually get it for). You can buy them on amazon for $320 (which is a good price for a watch which such an unusual movement, etc.).

+TrilobiteTerror Maybe $320 in the USA (where most things are cheaper). Try other Countries - $499 in the UK. Even if you buy from other Countries, we pay import tax, expensive shipping and then the warranties are often invalid.

Cool movement but the design is a little MUNDANE
Won't pay more than $50 for it
These watches are so poorly made !
