Nice video. The limit system on these is really touchy. That's really the only bad part of it, though. My friend had one of these that was on his old one-piece door, and that thing opened up in a matter of a second. I ripped it out when he had kids, and installed a Chamberlain screw drive. He kept the Monarch as a spare. Then he replaced the door, and the guys he called took the Monarch with them. (Damn!) I really wish I could've grabbed it...

Yours looks to be in really good shape. Monarch had a good idea with putting the relay, transformer, and delay in a module, I think. Too bad all these old manufacturers are gone now.

Safety sensors were non-existent at the time these were made. They had the pressure reverse, but that's it. Due to the speed his one-piece door opened at, it was just all-around unsafe, especially with a new baby in the home, who just started crawling when I replaced the opener. It was in everyone's best interest that the monarch got replaced in his home.

I bought this opener new in the box at a garage sale about 8 years ago. Radio controls did not come with it.

I take it the Monarchs did not have the safety features such as if the door makes contact with something it immediately goes back up and electric eyes and so on.

I'm looking at the manual for a LiftMaster 1040 series opener, it has models as Monarch 6000 and Monarch 8000. What I'd like to know is: Are they referring to these models?

I have on old Crawford Door opener probably form the 1950s. It was modified from the old plug in electronic tubes for the remote to circuit board at some time in history. It still works but I am replacing it with a modern garage door opener. I would be interested in selling this to a collector. This opener is real history. I can send pictures or video.

@@stanstenson8168 I have been having issues with it not working unless I tap it on the side. It makes kind of a spring noise "Boing" then it works again just fine. Maybe a relay?

@@TomsChevelle I don't know. Have you pulled the cover off and ran it? Maybe you can at least see where the noise is coming from, and go from there.
