Mon River & Deckers Creek Trails / Path Pedaler Episode 8

In this episode of Path Pedaler Mary Jo explores the trails in and around Morgantown West Virginia. She will start her adventure at the Arthurdale Heritage center where she talks to Nora Stutton to find out what Arthurdale is all about. Then she will ride the 18 miles of the Deckers Creek Trail from Reedsville to Morgantown where she will visit with Pamela Ball at the Morgantown History Museum. Next Mary Jo will stop in at the Morgan town Brewing Company to get a bite to eat and talk to one of the owners Chris Defazio.
After a good nights sleep Mary Jo talks with Trellis Smith of the Modern Homestead Guest House & Coffee Shop in Reedsville.
Then she starts her ride on the Mon River North Trail about four miles south of the Pennsylvania border at the Van Voorhis Trailhead. She rides about 2 miles into Star City where the trail becomes the Caperton trail. Along this paved section of trail Mary Jo stops at Core Arboretum for a short stroll thru the the woods. Then after quick lunch at the Black Bear Burrito in Morgantown Mary Jo gets back on the trail and continues her ride south thru Morgantown where the trail once again changes names to the Mon River South Trail.This section of the trail is about 18 miles long. After a short stop at the Hildebrand Lock and Dam Mary Jo finishes her ride at Pricketts Fort just outside of Fairmont WV. Here Greg Bray gives her a tour of the fort.

    Hey Mary Jo...this is Preston (JourneyonaBike). Thank you for sharing your trip/video. On my list once I figure out logistics of where to park my truck for a couple nights....or may make my way there to or from the GAP on roads near where Sheepskin Trail is being planned/constructed Question: did you ride up to Point Marion? ...where the Sheepskin Trail is being designed/constructed

    We were going to start at Point Marion but decided not to the trail was in no condition to ride it had just rained and was nothing but a mud hole! We filmed this episode early last summer.
