When she said her heart was for moms with 2 children under 2 years I actually got chills because that's me I'm on the thick of it! I have a 22 month old and a 2 month old and today I celebrated having all my cloth diapers washed dryer stuffed and put away 😂😭 because things are starting to finally feel a little normal

Yay!! Good for you! 2 under 2 is no joke! I had my first 2 with a 15 month age gap and it was so nice once they started to be on the same sleep schedule and doing some of the same things. It doesn’t feel like it in the moment, but it will go by quick and you will miss (some!) of those moments when you had those two “babies” 😊

Oh my goodness me too!! How are you doing nowadays??

I'm much older than both of you, but I & my late husband believed there were no such thing as woman's job or a man's job. I helped him if he needed it & while I worked ( he couldn't work because of medical conditions) he washed floors, even ironed scrubs for work.

With my babies, i wake them every 3 hours during the day but night time i just let them sleep so they know the difference between day and night. 😊

I had a small AGA when I was first married and loved it so much. It was a solid fuel one, had a hot oven and a slow oven, took me a while to get used to it but once I did, there was no going back. Always had somewhere warm to feed the babies in the early hours as it was always on and it used to heat a tank of water as well. When I left that house and moved to a more modern one I really missed it.

On husbands teaching, I do believe traditionally men should be the teachers. ☺️ he is the authority in the home. At least in the Catholic Church, priests and men are the teachers of the faith. Btw Lisa, you inspired me to start sourdough baking. I started two eeeks ago and I watched your videos. I’ve since made the cinnamon rolls ( that took me waaay to long to figure out 😂), cranberry walnut bread and the chocolate chip cookies ( needed up a giant cookie sheet because I didn’t have a scoop) lol thank you for what you do! I came from California, city girl, and now I’m a Missouri girl who makes food from scratch and has a bit of land to grow food. God is good!

Although I’m in a different stage of life as a grandmother, I really enjoyed meeting Leslie. It was like having friends over while I did kitchen work. God bless you sweet mommas as you serve your precious families! 😀❤️

That thought of "how will our kids perceive their childhood" is such a heavy thought in my mind. I tried to talk to my husband about this and he has never had that thought and thats so interesting! Moms have a desire to do the very best for their kids but sometimes it feels heavy. Its a worry i have deeply because im very aware im far from perfect but i try my best to make sure our home is comfy and calm for us. ❤ I pray they remember I tried my best to give them and calm, comfy home life.

I think having that thought depends on where you are coming from and how you perceived your childhood as well. My husband really strongly wants our kids to have a fun childhood with both of us present because he had rough childhood where his parents were rarely around. Personally, I’m quite fond of my childhood, and I think it can be easy to take that for granted. Although I of course also want our kids to look back fondly on their childhood.

She was so fun to listen to. Thank you for having her on! So nice to know I’m not the only one who feels guilty that we divide and conquer our littles & bigs. Definitely not talked about enough. ❤

Raising a family is really a team parental effort. I think homeschooling is waaaaay more difficult than shipping children off to public school. Hats off to dad!

Most people around me are taking medication to "sedate" themselves. I have The comforter and God has placed me in my home to share my joy with my family, satan is the god of this world, and he wants to steal our joy women, in the Lord's Name we can over come- by living our God ordained roles. I can tell you how many souls come to my house and are impacted by the ambiance of eachother serves oneanother lowly. God's ways are best.

Thank you so much for all your info. I have 2 girls that are 22 and 20, and I wish I had known this "peaceful" mothering back then. So thank you for sharing. The cell phone thing, our girls got theirs once they were 12/13 only because they were staying at someone's place that didn't have a land line and I wasn't able to get a hold of them. They were not home yet and it was getting late. That was a scarey situation for me. So I got them phones young. But, we have told them that they are addictive and that they can not rule their lives. They have been pretty good about not "living" on the phones. I also love how you both explained about leading by example and how we are not prefect. I apologize to my girls all the time and joke that they will likely need therapy cause I was an awful mother. They both assure me that they had a great childhood and that we as parents did a great job. We always were open with our girls about anything that was happening in our lives. Whether it be finances, world "dumpster fires" etc etc. We didn't hide it. Thanks again for sharing all your incites. It was great to hear.

You young ladies are amazing. A God centered home is an amazing blessing. I was a working Mama of two and working full time in the public school. Interesting talk and loved hearing your perspectives on things like sleep. I thought it was very comforting to know that even after 7 or 8 children, you moms are still trying to navigate each child. I just had my first this year. In terms of sleep, our pediatrician had told us that naps wouldn’t really be a thing until at least 9 months old. They just don’t have consistent or long naps before that. They could just be having cat naps, maybe an hour. My LO didn’t start napping in her crib until she was at least 8 or 9 months old. She’s now 10 months old and doesn’t nap consistently in her crib. Sometimes she has 3 naps, sometimes only 2. She sometimes has really long naps (2-3 hours) and sometimes doesn’t. She’s been sleeping mostly through the night since she’s been 5 months old. I took a sleep course but don’t follow everything that was said. We needed some sort of foundation for sleep and then tweaked it to meet our needs. TakingCaraBabies is a great course and recommend it just for foundational purposes for anyone struggling with sleep or needing to prepare before their little one comes. I think the important thing is to remember that every child is different. Every situation is different and not to think anyone is necessarily doing something wrong if baby’s not sleeping. Sometimes it could simply be that stressing out over a baby is not allowing the baby to sleep. They can sense when we’re stressed so it’s best to lead into it in a calm manner. Of course, easier said than done!

Lisa, I would have your stove thermostat calibrated. We own a vintage stove as well and it never takes longer, especially a lot longer to cook things. It's actually pretty easy to do yourself and my husband figured it out from watching KZread videos

I have a 6 week old, 19 month old and am 3 months away from my oldest being 3 years old. So need all the peace! I was just reading a book about making no stress face for my kiddos. I don’t want them to worry so I need to lay down worry and pick up peace. As a Christian mama, we have 24/7 access to that peace because God’s presence is with us. I love how you said that mom groups give us more access to worry. I have been obsessing over my mom groups and other people’s worries. I have a struggle internalizing other people’s worries. I’ve got enough on my plate and don’t need to look at others.

I get you. My husband and I have 10 children. I just got done saying that it was like we had 2 sets of kids. My oldest is 29, and our youngest is 4. Two girls, 8 boys :)

I love having "bigs" and "babies" at the same time. Having a nearly 17 year old and a 6 month old at once is so odd but great. It was wonderful to hear this conversation. I loved learning about the old cast iron ovens! Loved also the quality time talk. I do nurse my babies to sleep and they sleep through the night well and expect to be in bed at a certain time because they won't wake for hours and know it is bedtime. For a short while, my oldest child said I sheltered him too much, but now that he is a little older than that he realizes why I sheltered him and how it was a good thing. I didn't get a cell phone until a year after I was married and it was a flip phone. I barely used it. I hated it. It wasn't until 2009 when I got a smart phone (I was 25/26 that year). My first two children were already born when I got that phone.

Thank you both so much for sharing your experience about sleep and babies! Just this week I was upset because my 11 month old very rarely naps without me holding him and doesn’t sleep through the night. I’ve been feeling like such a failure because I’m surrounded by sleep training parents which is something I have tried with even worse outcomes than going with our natural patterns. It just felt so formulaic and unnatural to me and left me feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, and like a total failure. Thank you for your reassurance that he will start sleeping through the night one day!

Oh my goodness! I only have 3 had all in 3.5 years. And I had so much guilt going to church with just the kids bc my husband worked nights. Or only 1 or 2 kids. I was so worried about how it looked or what people thought. They are teenagers now and I’m 43 and have just started to value my peace and what works for me.

My husband isn’t the strong spiritual leader but he is a Christian and goes along with my leading. For example, we’re gonna read a chapter of the Bible for story time. He will read every other night and reinforce it. He says he delegates to me 😂but I know I really delegate to him. I have a responsibility and ministry to lead my kids to Christ. Someone has to do it 🤷‍♀️ I’ve accepted it and it’s working for us. He drives us to church and encourages our kids to pray so it’s working for us 😊

Many young people in todays world have nothing to look forward to. Like being old enough to get my ears pierced, ware pantyhose, shave my legs, drive a car, and many more things we look forward to.

Leslie, if you’re in Arizona right now, it would be super fun to run into you! 😅🙌 I’m a Mama of 6, with a mix of bigs & littles, and we homeschooled for 7 years before moving to Arizona 3 years ago, and now our kids attend a WONDERFUL private Christian school which we are very involved in. Lisa, I do not do any social media outside of KZread. Is there any way to contact you outside of your social media? Obviously, you are incredibly busy so you may not have any time for my questions anyway - and I completely understand. As a fellow Missouri homeschooling mom with a large family on a farm, I was just hoping to pick your brain about more particulars we might have in common.

Very nice. What if your not a “young” mom,but you just found out about all of these stuff( sourdough, homeschooling etc) Is it too late to start learning all of these? What can you do if your country is against homeschooling and you can’t do it?

I would pick one thing and learn it...practice until it is perfected. Next add another skill you are interested in... as far as living in a country that does not allow homeschooling...I would look deeply at why you want to homeschool and what you would most want to accomplish in your homeschool...then try and implement those things in your home...it may take creativity and prayer

My husband didn't travel but he wasn't available due to his work when my oldest two were babies, so not the same thing but I was essentially on my own. My 2nd was born 3 days after my 1st turned 1. I'm now expecting #9 and my oldest is 9. I'm not an internet personality but if you have any specific concerns you care to share I'd be happy to try to help!

I like your channel a lot, but it is incredibly misleading and ingenuine to make a statement like, "My births were pretty easy." No. Birth is not easy. It is intense and requires your focus to get through it nonmedicated. I absolutely cannot stand these statements from others moms that do natural births and make claims like: "I barely felt a thing." "It was easy." "Labor isn't that bad." "I didn't even know I was in labor." "I didn't even have to push." Just stoppp with the lies. It reeks of competition and motherhood isn't a competition. That's my only major pet peeve with the natural birth community. Otherwise, I love everything else about it!
