Mommy's Cape

Mommy's Cape is easy to make and fun to wear! It can be worn as a lovely cape by anyone but has other functions as well. It is especially designed for nursing mothers so they can care for their babies comfortably and with modesty. This cape can be easily moved from one shoulder to the other and is made using a very breathable fiber.

It is truly a beautiful garment, Bonnie, and so easy to do. I’m 75 years old, so, the only one I nurse is myself with a hot cup of coffee or tea! 🤣 But, I’m going to make this with a lovely blue Truboo blue sparkle. ❤️😘👍

Did you know that you have the best taste in stitches? Whenever I try another one I end up frogging and going back to the "Bonnie stitches". That border, for instance, is beautiful, and the wattle is thus far unrivalled as the background stitch for garments😊

Thank you Anna! Yes, this Wattle stitch was very underrated back in the day and rarely used. I find it hard to use anything else, especially when trying to feature cables, or making a nice top!

You make such beautiful items. Bamboo is so soft. You are inspiring me to try making clothing. I think that it is the ultimate goal to make wearables when crocheting. This is such a good idea for mother and baby. ☮️🌎🌲

I started this cape with the recommended yarn because it is beautiful. How long did it take you to complete? How many hours?

@BonnieBayCrochet , can you do a single crochet foundation instead of chain and single crochet?

  • @BonnieBayCrochet

I would recommend against this, thinking it may make that edge too long, or longer than the body of the rest of the fabric.

@@PeachesCream-hh8mz I try when and where I can. A lot depends on the gauge. That said you can lengthen or shorten by adding/ subtracting multiples of 4 from the original starting chain. This information is often found in the video description.
