Thats the one that's in my opinion is not offensive in this video, it was just a silly question. I clearly remember in another interview many years ago when Ariana was asked what's one thing she can't leave home without she literally said her phone, although maybe she changed her habits over the years, but maybe the guy saw that other interview before. Most often she has lots of makeup on too, many girls do, so the question applied to her. She didn't have to make it a big deal and just answer the non-serious question and have fun with it.

And the book question she could have just said “yeas I was able to read the book and quite enjoyed it” instead of just being patronizing. But prob was feining for some drugs. Their questions were just ridiculous and condescending. And perhaps because she is more a model than actress career wise they felt it was okay to ask questions that made her sound dumb because you know modes dumb. She wasn’t having any of it. Couple that with the difference in energy and demeanour between Americans and Brits and you get this interview. The hosts were out of line with their questions and then decided to act offended and get on their high horse. I have seen it happen more than once on American tv, hosts really do feel like they are something special and the artist or celeb should be grateful to even be in the position to be interviewed by the host and just undergo any kind of questioning or humiliation. It’s crazy and out of pocket.

I’m usually in the camp of celebrities are people to. No need to give them special treatment or with kid gloves. If you as a comedian or show host is there to entertain your audience, ask the questions that will entertain your audience. That’s your job. That said… It’s not cool to do a pre-interview, then blindside them with questions you didn’t go over in the pre interview. The reason celebs do those Late night type interviews is to promote what they’re doing, not talk about drug abuse. That’s what the Oprah/ Diane Sawyer sit down are for. Not the little 4 minutes you’re supposed to be promoting a movie or whatever.
