Portal Frame Eave with Haunch Connection using Plates and Bolts is presented in this 3D animation. The connection between column and rafter is designed as moment resisting connection. At eave connection, haunch is provided to increase the moment resistance of the rafter at end and haunch helps to reduce the required rafter depth. With the use of endplate, the rafter with haunch is connected to Column.

Do i have to leave a clearance gap btween the rafter enp plate and the coulmn for easy erection? I cant find any answer for this
