The singers are all brothers. The Gibbs, and they had really similar voices. The whole album was made as a soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever, which set John Travolta's career up. And the album was one of the biggest all time records. The HBO documentary on The Bee Gees changed my view on them.

4:00 Brad: Where on Earth do you find 3 dudes that can sing this high pitch? 🤣 🌟Answer: Barry was 9 years old & his brothers, twins, Maurice & Robin were 6 when they began singing in unison. It wasn't until 1975 while recording “Nights on Broadway,” producer Arif Mardin asked that someone harmonize while screaming in the background. That was the first time Barry sang falsetto. “I was thinking, my god, where is this coming from? I can do this. My whole life I never knew I could do this,” Barry joked. 🤣 BUT!! There is FOUR Gibb brothers that can sing like that. Little brother Andy (12 years younger than Barry) had a solo career & sang with the signature Gibb falsetto. Barry once said, "Maurice & Robin are twins but Andy is mine." 🌟Pleaae react to Andy Gibb "Shadow Dancing" & "I Just Wanna Be Your Everything". I can't wait til you see & hear him! ❤

The three singers are all brothers. The were a music group formed in 1958, featuring brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb. The trio were especially successful as a popular music act in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and later as prominent performers of the disco music era in the mid- to late 1970s. The group sang recognisable three-part tight harmonies; Robin's clear vibrato lead vocals were a hallmark of their earlier hits, while Barry's R&B falsetto became their signature sound during the mid- to late 1970s and 1980s. The Bee Gees wrote all of their own hits, as well as writing and producing several major hits for other artists.

In this clip: the tallest guy in the middle with the big hair and beard, the lead singer: Barry Gibb born September 1, 1946, the only surviving Gibb brother. Guy with long hair and red t-shirt: Robin Gibb, born December 22, 1949-passed away May 20, 2012, balding guy with beard Robin's fraternal twin brother Maurice (pronounced "Morris") Gibb, born December 22, 1949-passed away January 12, 2003. They also had another, younger, brother Andy Gibb, born March 5, 1958-passed away March 10, 1988. The three oldest brothers were born on the Isle of Man (UK). Oldest brother Barry got seriously burned when he accidentally pulled boiling tea over himself at 18 months old. He was in coma for a while, nearly died and was in hospital for many months. Because of this, he did not learn to talk until after the twins were born. Later the family moved to Manchester and from there they emigrated to Australia in 1958, right after Andy was born. Their musical career, which they had started as little kids, didn't lead to international success so they moved back to the UK in 1966. Then they had a string of big hits, until they temporarily broke up around 1970 for 15 months. Started back up, looking for a new sound which they first found in 1974 with the transitional album "Mr. Natural". After that "Main Course" was the first album that moved them into a new direction: more rhythm&blues, dance music like with great hits like Nights on Broadway and Jive Talkin'. From 1976 on they went all out with falsetto driven dance music which lead to their biggest commercial success as they provided classic songs for the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack (1977 Stayin' Alive, How Deep is Your Love, Night Fever amongst them). You should react to the 1979 live version of Stayin' Alive, too kzread.info/dash/bejne/aaKdurWhZ9m9gqw.html

The genius of not only The Bee Gees, but also all of the executives who backed them, is: very few people would have had the vision to see that a female-sounding falsetto was going to work for guys trying to come off as cool in the 70's, an era of muscle cars and Dirty Harry. It was a courageous thing when you look at the music they were competing with.

But I do agree with your technical point, and with the a lot of the influences. But those were influences. That exact sound--including how the voices fit into the compositions--was very original. But I agree, if we're looking for examples of that sort of voice working for a male singer in popular music, then the black singers in blues and soul and gospel were where we would have been most likely to see some awesome examples of it.

The Bee Gees, originally the Brothers Gibb are an Australian band formed by 3 brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb. They actually have a 4th brother, Andy, who had a solo career. Originally doing top 40 type songs, they became the voice of the disco movement and did the music for Saturday Night Fever and the sequel Stayin' Alive. Great band that spanned multiple genres.

The film broke box office records at the time and the soundtrack which featured several songs written and performed by The Bee Gees (Barry,Maurice and Robin Gibb is still one of the greatest ever. The group of brothers had been performing as children since the late 50’s They first came into prominence in 1960’s during the British Invasion led by the Beatles.
