I wake up at different times everyday day, but usually around eight. I’m retired, but keep busy. I have a one acre property that I am homesteading this year. No animals. But the most important thing to me is getting up, going downstairs and making tea and going back to bed for at least an hour to read. I do this everyday without fail. It makes me ever so happy. 😀

The sweetness of your little boy brought me to tears. Reminded me of my own little boy who is now 22 years old and in the Army. Oh, how I miss those little hands in the morning...tapping me on my cheeks and asking for "beckfast, mommy, beckfast" when he was just two and a half years old...

I grew up with literally nothing- like in cars, homeless shelters etc and now that I own my own home, channels like yours have helped me figure out my true style. This parisenne farmhouse style as well as the farmhouse vernacular and farmhouse on boone are all so comforting and inviting. The way I want to make people feel when they come into my home. ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you for reminding me how important it is to start your day with a morning routine and make yourself feel good and be ready for whatever comes your way. I've been sick for awhile and recovered from 3 cancers, but I'm healed and need to take sometime for muself. It's so easy to become complacent and get into that "I don't care mood"!! Those little touches like flowers and an oil lamp, fresh bread, the table at dinners and table talk and spending time with the family that you and Joel have created is priceless and those little touches are going to be the things they'll remember and emulate later on in life. When I saw your eye shadow I thought about how it smells and how I remember my mom smelling when she got ready for the day. I always knew mama felt happy when she was chewing gum and creating things. George Washington was up at 4:00 AM every morning and at his desk answering correspondence, reading, and readying himself for the business day ahead whether it was Mt. Vernon, with his army, or the Capital. Still don't know how you get it all done. I'm not nearly so efficient. Single digits here in W. MI too - but in less than 3 weeks it'll be March so there's some light at the end of the tunnel.

@Lake Michigan not sure where you are at in MI but the whole west coast is beautiful! I'm in southeastern Mi about 80 miles from Lake Huron. Pretty 🥶 cold, too. Stay warm & take care!

@@kimw8054 I'm west of Grand Rapids about 30 minutes from the Big Lake in an area close enough to the coast to get our fair share of lake effect snow. If Lake Huron is the big body of water you're close to then your home must be in the Thumb. Yes indeed, from Mackinaw City all the way to New Buffalo is beautiful. We have the dunes and, largely, the daily on shore summertime breezes that tend to bring in the warmer swimmable surface water. I think what we have here up & down the lake is about as nice as it gets - our little piece of paradise.

I appreciate these videos! I found this one to be encouraging... listened to it while I made my bed & got dressed...making my bed is so key to my routine also! I love deciphering between routine & schedule. I have a routine now rather than a schedule, because sometimes life just doesn't accommodate schedules. Right now I'm getting up several times (or either staying up really late) to keep up the fire (it's been -40°C for the past week+ 🥶) and my husband's been out of town, so that means my routine most certainly doesn't happen at the same time each day! Heaven knows mama needs a bit of rest to be kind 😉 anyway! Thanks for putting these together & sharing your thoughts + life with us!

It has been so long since I have watched one of your videos. I love the shorter hair! Beautiful. This video was so soothing and lovely. Mornings are my quiet time before the day gets started. I love the idea of a routine instead of a schedule. When I 'sleep in' (and by that i mean sleeping until 5 instead of getting up at 3:30 or 4 lol) I used to stress out because I wasn't 'on schedule'. One day I realized, I can still do all the things that matter, I just need to do some of them for less time if I sleep in or don't feel great, or just don't do some of the things. The world will not stop if I miss a workout one day lol. I start my 'paid' job at 9am and i am home based so there is no commute. That means plenty of time in the morning to get things done. I constantly need to remind myself of that. Thank you for this video! p.s. love the idea of hymns at the table xo

YES, the demands and expectations in our heads are such demons in disguise. I will always trade a routine for a schedule, and cram as many things that fill my cup as possible into that routine (getting eggs from the coop, making a fire in the wood stove, cooking breakfast on my vintage range, putting my hair in French braids, a load of dishes and a load of laundry and the day is MADE!)

Love the routine rather than a schedule, where you are racing. I continue with my mid day dressing after years of homeschooling. All those books were oh so familiar. I do make my bed when I get up in the AM 😊 Tell the teens we enjoy our glimpses of them. Blessings to you all.

My grand daughter who is 7 watched this video with me. We loved it. It is so true to try to stay with a routine and not such a strict schedule, so well put. they are not in school yet because of the Covid word. I am thinking it would be better to really home school instead of having the work dictated to us. Rather be able to pick and choose more.
