​@@bigbirds-bs7ov "The system" doesn't get the money, the bondsman keeps 10% for putting up the bond. The rest goes back to his family if he keeps all his court appearances. The money is only "kept" if he flees and isn't recovered within the required time (typically 6 months). In this case he shouldn't be granted bail at all as he should be considered a risk to the community.

Drunk lawyer just woke up 35 mins before court. Hopped out of a 2011 Ford Explorer and only charged $4k with a $800 down payment. Can’t forget his loafers busted as hell.
