So, your cat made a request. The request was denied. You explained why it was denied. The cat showed understanding of the explanation, and tried to put a stop to it. You made a request of the cat, and that cat eventually fulfilled your request. So not only is Billi gracious, but this is *great* evidence of interspecies communication.

Yeah, the fact that she came back later and asked about "ouch" is pretty amazing. It's one thing for an animal to go "hmm, if I press this button, the human gives me catnip, so I should press it when I want catnip", and another level of mental sophistication for the cat to verbally hear "catnip later, mom ouch" and to then wait until later and ask mom about ouch.

We might be! Humans live to find patterns where none exist, but that’s why we’ll leave that determination in the hands of the linguisticians studying her and all the other AIC animals! It’s still too early to make sweeping claims.

we can see she definitely knows the difference between Ouch, food, catnip, MAD , asking HMMM? and the concepts of time (difference between later and now!) With all scientific precaution we can still see she definitely knows the difference of the button meanings. She also knows Ouch is something so serious that she stopped demanding catnip. Then she literally asked Ouch hmmm? which means she is asking about the ouch. then she said All Done repeatedly as well so she has definitely an understanding of all done/finish as well. Then she comes to Mom for cuddles when asked. None of this can be written of as "coincidence" because she's not just randomly pushing any button near her. She DOES communicate with us and has even learned our counterintuitive

sorry msg cut off on my phone. With all scientific precaution and Ockham's razor we still can see that Billie definitely knows the difference between all these buttons. That's so much more than we humans know in cat language, we don't understand most of their meows and only have rudimentary understanding of her body language . It's actually Billie who's the interspecies genius here, a tiny kitty has learned OUR counterintuitive English so that we dumb staff understand her better... just wow!

Billi asked a question and understood that mom needed something. I'm blown away at the fact that cats can comprehend a question. I know that cats are smart and always thought they're about like a toddler. But Billi proves that cats are much smarter than a toddler. As she progresses and learns more vocabulary, I continue to be amazed. I really feel badly for my cats because they can't communicate with me. They must be frustrated all the time, asking for things and me responding incorrectly. All I comprehend is "food" "bed" "play" "stop" and "mad". That's their meows but I can only say "come" and "treats" (treats are given after brushing and they know that). I'm going to give them extra cuddles tonight.

Cats are more intelligent than most people give them credit for. And I think some people refuse to acknowledge so they can justify any mistreatment toward these animals in the past - like maybe abandoning or separating a cat from their sibling or parent etc. assuming cats don't value their bonds, or don't think back on the past or look forward to something or have plans, it's easier to do stuff when you assume something is "dumb" and won't be offended

IT IS the RULE! You can not disturb the cat when laying beside or on you. If they are laying on a body part , said body part must remain STILL! It's the rule. Every cat family member must abide by the rule of cat superiority! They are descendants of royalty and we must be loyal servants to their greatness. I hold no other to such hierarchy! I loved this family time video. Thanks.😹✌️🖖🤘😻

My 5 cats that were with me for a long time ( Momma until 19 yrs & her 4 daughters for 15-16 yrs) knew when I said " Momma's Owie" it meant not to jump on me or bother me. I have Fibromyalgia & whenever I hurt really bad, I had to lay down. They would lay down with me & often on me. Every time the sopt that each cat layed on were my most painful places. I miss those girls so much ! Edit: They also knew if they were running around & scratched me & I said Ow really loud....they were in trouble😂

People say that the animals "don't actually know what the buttons mean and just push them because things happen when they do" (ignoring the fact that them knowing which buttons to push means they clearly do have at least some understanding of what each button and its corresponding audio clip means), but this? You can't call this a coincidence. Billi clearly knows what's going on and that's insane to me.
