I’m pregnant with my first child. I never realized how difficult it is to balance work, family, etc... while pregnant. The women at my company have always made it look so easy that I sometimes feel like I’m being lazy or dramatic about how my symptoms are affecting my performance in all areas.

Its so crazy! I live in Germany and we have a law, that moms can take one year off after they had their children and they must be paid for that (not fully paid but I think around 60%). All in all parents are allowed to take off three years for their children (moms leave + dads leave = three years) It’s crazy to see how different it is in the US...

In Germany you can take up to three years without losing your job. If you get 3 kids in a row you get 9 years. But most women take 1-2 years because those are paid. You get around 60% of your salary

Working and soon to be first time mom here. I’ve had hyperemesis so far for all 7 months of pregnancy. I’m lucky that my employer was flexible to let me work from home at my doctor’s request, but it is still challenging and exhausting. And even if all my male bosses and coworkers mean well, they still don’t get it and are already assuming I’m somehow a “flight risk.” We need a shift in mindset!

hell yeah we are not the same! I have been saying that for a long time. My dad was saying the other day hat he is a believer in men getting the exact same amount of leave (paternity leave) as women, and I said, it should be like in Sweden, you get a huge leave for the parents and the parents get to decide how many months each and how they start to work, slowly. Up to each couple and their situation, but saying if you want equality give the exact same time to both is ignoring the fact that we have to recover. Sorry not sorry, it is not equal. I went through IVF, I went through pregnancy and I delivered a baby. He just doesn't get it. He came to visit us (we live in another country) days after giving birth and was expecting me to take him to places and cook for him, he got called off by my cousin who told him in a video call, the one cooking should be you, stop saying they are ordering takeaway these days, yes they are, because they don't want to cook extra for a guest, is tiring. Not the same, not the same, not the same!

My job covers our health insurance and we can't lose that. I have a hard time with work/ life balance. Thanks for the fantastic content! Have a great day 😊❤

Love your content. Enjoyed this video, I have to manage a store for one of the largest shipping company's in the US. However, some of the tips and ways to cope are not realistic to a majority of women. I do not have a nanny and will not be able to obtain one. Can you guys have other perceptives as well that the average women can relate too, or gain tips from please.

This is only about corporate. What about the people who work in the medical field point of view????????????? Here in the Netherlands everyone gets 3 months paid maternity leave. And if you have worked too many extra hours, you can use that as extra paid leave.

Is it safe to drink kombucha while pregnant or breastfeeding?? I feel like there is a stigma, I’m not trying to be a troll but honestly curious to know the answer! I love kombucha and stopped drinking while I was pregnant.

PhD in nutritional science here, I would say no, especially "hand crafted" varieties that I see popping up made locally because they are not pasteurized. To me, it is not worth the risk to my son, even for the commercial brands (many commercial brands are also not pasteurized). The same thing with fresh juice, because of the lack of pasteurization, it is not considered safe during pregnancy. www.healthline.com/nutrition/kombucha-while-pregnant#section2

I find it crazy that 3 months is more than the average in America... here in the UK my employer gives me 5 months full pay, then statutory maternity pay 20-39 weeks.

I wish companies compensated the people who have to take on extra work when others go on maternity leave. A bonus, something!

This is a little silly to me. Don’t get me wrong, I have so much respect for working moms and I hope to be one some day. But, it’s a little out of touch that you are talking about hiring help (nanny, housekeeper, instacart, whatever it is). I grew up around (and later worked in communities where) families did not have any ability to do that. Both parents had to work full time, there were usually 2-4 kids per household, and parents (sometimes older siblings too) would skip meals to feed the younger mouths. Further, these were communities where there was limited access to extended family due to recent immigration to the US. If you were lucky enough to have a grandparent around, they might be able to help, but often I saw families relying on favors from neighbors or just resorting to bringing the baby to work. Sometimes there was access to free headstart or daycare, but families had to figure out how to take care of kids, all household duties, and full time (usually manual) work without much help, and definitely the help was almost never hired. These were free programs or favors. I know your audience is completely different from this demographic, but it would be nice to see some gratitude or acknowledgment of the privileged positions from which you speak.

Okay but you are very privileged women. Way more than half of moms watching are not able to pay for housekeeper, nanny/babysitter, instacart, etc. Plus I’m sure you all have husbands who make enough money to pay for basic living necessities. You 3 women are NOT the norm in America today get real

Sorry this is only out of care for your baby.... did your doctor give you approval 1st before drinking Kombucha? Fermentation of any kind should have doctor approval 1st when your pregnant or breastfeeding. Also, a proposed law by CA Gov Newsom allows for 6 months of maternity/ paternity leave to be split by 2 parents to allow for care & bonding with their new baby (foster and adoptive parents included). I really hope this law passes soon. Every baby deserves to be cared for and have bonding time with their parents/ guardians. We all know how this helps with development & eases the financial stress for parents... so they don’t have to choose between their bills or their baby. And I just wish in general for more employers to allow their employees to work from home & just FaceTime for meetings. It’s 2019 we don’t need to all be in the office at the same time when we can use tech from home to get stuff done. Thanks for sharing!🙂👶🏻
