Mokongwa Campsite Review - Khama Rhino Sanctuary

Khama Rhino Sanctuary is situated in Botswana around 7 hours’ drive from Johannesburg in South Africa, four hours from Botswana’s capitol Gabarone and 5 hours from Maun. This makes it a great stopover to or from Central or Northern Botswana. The closest town is Serowe.
A special thanks to Edward Bath Overlanding (bit.ly/3ah09HJ) and 4x4 Ventures SA (bit.ly/2NNlQFV) for joining me on this trip and sharing some incredible footage!

Hey Chris, we love Khama, normally stay in the chalets, young family new to trailer camping, so this was a great review, used this for our trip to Khama Rhino this weekend, all sites are nice, but there is something special about campsite 9, perfect shade, plenty of space and clean sand without thorns for the kids to play, enjoyed Campsite 9. Loads of game as usual, just no leopards only prints near the bird hide. Great entertainment with the birds and squirrels (Hornbills managed to eat away our windscreen wipers). I follow you, Edward and Ryan, hope you all keep the great videos coming. Thanks Again, building up the CKGR crossing 😀

Lovely spot that, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Amazing to see it so green, we were there in August 19, and it was bone dry! Great vid.

Great stuff, one day when i do these trips i will definitely fall back on your video collection as reference. Just on a side note on the first video was the spare fitted to the Ranger L/F side. Wheel looked way smaller than the one on rear.

Hi Christof , please can you give a bit more info , show the ablutions and is their a fence around the camping area , is it suitable for kids and off cource what is the cost etc , thanks keep up the great work

Thanks for the feedback. In this particular case the camps aren’t fenced and I’d be really careful with kids as there are leopards around camp (only saw spoor though). I often can’t film the ablutions inside because it’s just too dark inside unfortunately, that was the case here. The bathrooms need some TLC as I mentioned, no hot water in the ladies, needs a good cleaning and some paint... Thanks again for watching!

Hi Chris, great camp site review as usual. Do i need a 4X4 to travel around the camp?

Thanks Clement! You can probably reach the campsite with a 4x2 as long as it’s a high clearance vehicle. For the rest of the park you’re going to need a 4x4.
