Mojo Nixon & Skid Roper - Live at the I Beam, San Francisco, 1987

Музыка

the I-Beam was a legendary San Francisco bar/music venue one block east of Golden Gate Park on Haight St...the proprieter, Dr. Sanford Alan Kellman, was very wise to book up & coming underground-ish acts from the fringes of alternative popularity, and the live music was only presented on Monday nights (a genius move: not competing with weekend events, the bands were eminently available, and San Francisco was decadent enough to support it en mass) . Bands like Primus, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Faith No More, Soundgarden, Butthole Surfers, Meat Puppets, and many punk and New Wave bands performed there...one Monday night, Mojo Nixon opened for somebody and I thought he reminded me of someone...when he got offstage I told him he seemed familiar and he called me by my name (we had been acquainted since early childhood, 3000 miles away, and I wasn't certain)...I don't remember the night this tape was recorded. It has not been seen by anyone and has been in a box for 37 years...it presents the raw goods of who Mojo is and what his show is about...I also recorded him at the Fillmore; that tape has not resurfaced as of yet...
