    Hello. For example: dry mass weight of carrot is 17.85 gr. If I want 12% moisture content in dried carrots after drying, the dry basis will be 17.85 + 12% moisture = 20gr. The dry basis in the formula is 17.85g or 20gr?

    Please solve this problem. It can be determined by drying of 10g sample in oven at 103*C for 17hrs,weighing and calculating through the Seed moisture content??

    divide weight of dry content both to the numerator and denominator in the formula of determining moisture content percentage which is mc%=weight of water/total weight of moistured food or grain.

    1. A silt loam in a Peshawar valley can hold 35% moisture on volume basis in rootzone, at permanent wilting point it can hold 6.67% moisture on weight basis, actual moisture content in soil on volume basis is 22%. The bulk density of the soil is 1.5 g/cm3. The crop cultivated on the soil with these characteristics has a rootzone of 1.5 meters and an evapotranspiration of 5 mm per day. a. What is the actual available water in the rootzone of this crop (in mm)? b. How much water (in mm) should be applied to get the soil in the rootzone at field capacity? c. Find the maximum available when moisture content in rootzone is at field capacity (in mm)? d. After the field is brought at field capacity by applying required depth of water calculated in (b) , how many days does it take before the soil reaches back to 22% moisture by volume? Solve this question
