I am at 77 now and what talked about Great Singer and at the time very soft heart Mohammed Rafi and great Musisians of the Cinema Shankar Jai krishna ji Era. I witnessed the whole episode you presented in the program because that were my school and college days and I have not issued any of the films you mentioned. I thank you for bringing such a wonderful program. Please carry on such programs in future future also.

you missed one thing here, it was Jaikishan ji who ended the royalty disputebetween Lata ji and Rafi and convinced both of them to lend their voices together in the song of the film Jewel Thief released in 1967. but otherwise this programme is very nice

Rafi sahab ke bahut bade bade nagme hai unhe jitne Filmfare diye jate Kam hi the unko har gane ke liye milta Filmfare to filmfare ki hi ijjat badh jati Wo sare award se upar the unki gayki ke aage award ki koi ahmiyat nahi thi

During 50's and 60's the songs used to be released before the films. The songs from Sangum were also released ahead of the film. The songs "Bol Radha Bol" and "Dost Dost Na Raha", which were composed by Shankar, were released first. It is said that at a party, one of the guests, who was drunk at the time, told Jaikishan that Shankar's songs were superhits. Jaikishan replied that he should wait for two weeks when his composition in Rafi Sahib's voice will be released, which will overtake all other Sungum songs in popularity. The same drunk then went to Shankar and told him what Jaikishan had said. This made Shankar very mad. Although Jaikishan's prediction came true, "Yeh Mera Prem Patra" became very popular. Incidentally, when the songs were released, they also mentioned the poet's name. From there, it was easy to tell whether it was composed by Shankar or Jaikishan. If it was written by Shailendra, Shankar has composed it. If it was written by Hasrat, Jaikishan composed it. This was almost always true.

बहोत ही शानदार वर्णन रफी साहब के बारे में। रफी साहब का दीवाना कौन नहीं। बचपन से ही मैं रफी साहब के गीत सुनता आ रहा हूँ । मेरी उम्र 70 वर्ष है लेकिन आज भी उनके हिट गाने मेरे जेहन में घूमते रहते हैं। और आज मेरे लिये थेरेपी के समान हैं। मैं उन्हें अब गा रहा हूँ। उनके गीत सुनकर और गा कर जो सुकून मिलता है ये संगीत प्रेमी ही महसूस कर सकते हैं। 👌👍🙏🙏🙏

I had seen first film in my life ' आइ मिलन की बेला' in 1964 at Botad (Bhavnagar dist guj.)Town in jalmin in theatre .it was miracle day for me.

You forgot to mention Rafi Sahab's solo 'Salaam aap ki meethi nazar ko salaam' composed by Shankar-Jaikishan for Boyfriend (1961). It was picturized on Shammi Kapoor.

You have forgotten to mention Uttam kumar starred Chhoti si Mulaqat song. Tujhe dekha tujhe chaha tujhe pooja maine. It was a super duper hit song.

From reliable sources -- Shankar Jaikishan were the best music directors as far as box office success of their film music is concerned. Quality wise --- Ravi, Madan Mohan, Roshan, Chitragupt, Naushad, Khayyam, S D Burman etc. excelled with their brilliant scores. Rafiji was undoubtedly the common factor in all their compositions in the golden era if Hindi Film music.

No reliable source needed as there is nothing secret about it. They were the "King" of the Box office from their debut till one of the duo left for heavenly abode before time. दो हंसो का जोड़ा बिछड़ गयो रे। All the composers you mentioned are greats. I will add Husnlal Bhagatram Sajjad Hussain Anil Biswas Vasant Desai S Mahinder HR Behl Snehal Bhatkar Ram Lal S Malik Salil Chowdhury and so on. Each one of all these greats had their individual style. Their major creations had visibly Hindustani classical aura though they did have many songs in western frame. But none of them was a sure hit label on them as much as S-J who delivered songs in Hindustani yet not so visibly as others would. Their packaging was catchy and easily hummable by man in the street. To add to it all the songs of their films were hits which no other composer had that to show. SD, C Ramchandra V Desai Salil Choudhury OP Nair each had entire composition of a film as hits but certainly not all their films though each of their films had a couple of hits. Talk of all RK acted films, both home productions or otherwise, Dev Anand, Shammi Kapoor and Rajendra Kumar acted films with S-J score like Asli Naqli Junglee, Dil Ek Mandir, Professor, Raj Kumar , Patita, Arzoo Aayee Milan ki Bela - so many of them. Seema and Kath Putli (Balraj Shahni) Mere Huzoor and Dil Apna aur Preet Parai (Raaj Kumar) were also each one a stupendous success. All the films I mentioned now released between 1955 & 1965. Continuously happening one after snother. No other composer was so lucky. Pure classical as delivered by others was also there in S-J's cupboard. Success at the Box Office is the yardstick and success doesn't come without merit or quality.

Faraz Bhai aapka yeh programme behad pasand aayaa. Aapki mehnat aur research ko salaam. Rafi saheb aur SJ ki jodi ne jo kamaal kiya hai uska jawab nahin. Apni aawaaj & style mein Md Rafi saheb ke saath OPNayyar, Madan Mohan, Nauashad, Roshan wagairah par bhi programme banaayein. Thanks for this programme
