the openings on the sides under the deck are called limber holes-Seaview was supposed to have a dual hull-pressure hull and outer hull.

Harley, the decals are made by a company called TSDS. Not sure what the acronym stands for, but the decals are readily available on eBay. Just search for 1/350 Seaview decals and you'll find them.

Moebius Models does make the large, 39" Seaview. At one time the kit came with the option to build one of two window designs. One has the 4 panes flat against the hull, like the 17 foot miniature used in surface shots and in flying sub launch sequences. The second option has the four window panes framed ( for reinforcement I suppose) to look like the 8 foot miniature one used in submerged shots which got more screen time. Usually crashing to the bottom of the sea, or being attacked by giant goons of the deep. The new re-issue has eliminated the window options and molded the 17 foot model's flat pane windows into the hull halves. All of the 39" TV versions come with the supporting vehicles ( flying sub, diving bell and mini sub). Moebius also issued a movie and 1st season Seaview that is also 39" that has the eight two story window arrangement. I bought two of the TV version Seaviews so I could build both the 17 and 8 foot versions, the movie 8 window, AND the new re-issue TV version that has flat planes to replicate the 17 footer. And yes, I have the little one like you have in the video. Actually, I have two. One is a diorama I built with the sub being molested by a giant "manfish". It's confirmed... I am an obsessive freakshow. But I also have 12 Enterprise models of various scale and version and an insane number of tanks, monsters and assorted other models . Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea started out as a cold war espionage based series and devolved into a "monster of the week" menagerie of the absurd. But since I was a kid, I have always been obsessed with that submarine. It's just too damn cool. Some say it's phallic looking and they may be right. But that isn't why it fascinates me. I am a breeder, so I think I just genuinely find it sleek. I just wrote this novel to share with you guys something you might find interesting in case you find it as fascinating as I do. Or maybe you stopped reading 500 words ago. I might have....Nice build, by the way. The color has been a source of debate for years, I have painted mine each a different shade.

Could they have made the base for the Seaview any more ugly???

Probably not. It's supposed to resemble the base that came with the ancient Aurora kit from back in the 60's. It was pretty ghastly and impractical as well.
