    I envy you this sensible exam. It is nice and adequate to check skills. Here in Poland, the exam is just money-maker for government. Close to being impossible to pass, especially for someone starting with motorcycles ("skilled beginner"). Like fast slalom - 30km/h sharp turns - easy to touch cones. There are even some cases of breaking legs on Polish exam because tasks are so risky.

    I’ve been watching bike exams videos from different countries as I’m taking exams for bigger bikes, and japan is super easy, and the uk one’s reasonable. I’m from Macau, and ours exams are short but very difficult, we only need to do one thing before road test, which is 4 cones on a slope, one lane wide, we have came to a stop on the slope, then start and go around all the clones on the slope twice, but It pretty much covers all the clutch and break controls and figure 8 and everything.

    Interesting that you say not to rely too much on the back brake. I have found it easiest to set the throttle, keep the clutch at the biting point and then regulate everything else with the back brake. If I feel the bike slowing too much I just ease off the brake and it comes right back to where I want it. Simple. I know that over the longer term, this probably wears out the back brake more quickly but since you're not really going to be doing too many figures of 8 in real life, I think it's ok. Anyway, got my Mod 1 tomorrow (yikes!). Practice day yesterday (on a much smaller and tighter course) went perfectly. Just got to control the nerves now, which isn't easy. Not taking anything for granted, that's for sure.

    For the slow turns and the figure 8 I discovered that extending your leg in the same direction as your turning direction balances the bike a lot. I guess it's the same thing when you extend your arms to get a better balance when walking on something very narrow and thin.

    I don't see why you can't use the rear brake. I use higher revs, light clutch, rear break and counter balancing while looking where I want to go and I can do a U turn within a single parking space. Granted it's a CB125R but found it more stable on my friend's CBR650R, even if not quite as tight. I need to work on using less brake but still want some in there.

    These bike tests do you need to do them all in sequence or can you go direct to a full a licence after doing CBT or must you do module 1 and then module 2 and then do the full A licence. Thoughts on this would be welcomed ☺️

  • @BikeMatters

    @BikeMatters

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hi Kurt, so you have to do these in order. So CBT, Theory (which you could also do before the CBT), Mod 1 and then Mod 2, which (when passed) gives you the full licence, or licence restricted to A1/A2/A depending on what motorcycle or scooter you pass on. There's no option to do them in any other order.

    If you’ve only got your cbt you can only ride a 125. If you have your a2 (19 years old+ ) you can ride 47bhp bike or 94bhp restricted to 47bhp. Then if you have your A just hop on any bike you want. Long story short you don’t need a 125 if you have a higher licence than a cbt

    Thank you! Training costs are dependent on how much training you need & where you are, really. If you're completely confident in your riding you may need fewer lessons, but it pays off to have an extra 1 (or 2!) to get more used to the bigger bike. I'd love to say an exact price, but it depends on you and your location. Check the Camrider website for their current prices and offers!
