The Mod subculture never quite caught on in The U.S. All Yanks (Americans) know about Mods are from Quadrophenia. (Both the original album, AND the film). As a Yank, I've always been fascinated, and have always had a healthy respect for the Mod Subculture. I've always loved what we call "British Invasion" music from the 1960s, (The Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Animals, Moody Blues, The Hollies etc) as well as Soul and R & B, especially stuff released on Motown/Tamla/Gordy, as well as Atlantic/Stax. Sadly a lot of great British bands would only be recognized later on in The U.S. , (The Who,The Yardbirds, Small Faces) or where never even heard of, except my a cult of Anglophiles, and record collectors. (The Action, The Creation, to name but two) I get into a lot of arguments with people about this, but I feel that if it weren't the Mods of the 1969s, there would be no punk rock today. I mean even The Jam were accepted by the first generation of punk rockers in the mid 70s, even though Paul Weller's self appointed mission was to out Who The Who, but without the destruction of musical instruments. (Paul Weller himself said that his first mission in life was to put out an album better than My Generation) Anyway, I hope someday, somebody puts out an accurate, and comprehensive documentary about Mods, and the history of. This was too short, and only scratches the surface, but I still enjoyed watching this video. The closest thing to Mod that America got was PREPPIES, and preppies have SHIT taste in music! (And then they graduated into YUPPIES with even WORSE taste in music!)

Later post 66' Mods sank into Hippies and Psyche with the onset Of LSD , or they got married and sold thier Scooters , OR they became Skinheads. This Cult moved so fast one type of music crossed- over into another, In my opinion Hendricks Was not a Rock Musician , he was Electric Blues. I am a Mod and I love Jimmy , why? , because its still Black Music , be it Soul, Ska , or RnB , Without which There would never be Mod as a Subculture , Hendrix is nearer to Mod than Oasis or Blur will ever be ....they are just commercial hangers - on... So , its a Massive Family tree of Musical elitism , underground only , not to be found in The " Hit Parade" 200Kid.

@@4th_Lensman_of_the_apocalypse I did laugh mate , but I don't really give a Shite anymore ,,,I'm too set in My ways nowadays Please read on.... Oh and I Fuckin hate Modern Bands.. I will say this though , 1 , Jimmy was lead quitarist for the " Isley Brothers " Until Chaz Chandler " Discovered " him , a massive group very popular with original Mods... 2 , Jimmy went to the Twisted Wheel To see his Buddies "The Hesitations " in 67' at the Twisted Wheel , he didn't Perform , just following legends Among Soul Fans as a Fan Himself. So , my " Crossover " description Aint so out of Kilter , after All. 200Kid
