At least it's true for me. I like driving carefully making good shifting, using trothle and brakes smoothly. Sometimes you can barely notice I don't have stock exhaust. The traffic noise is louder. Not the my car is loud, it's just not stock. It has a sweet sound that I love to hear.

Even the auto generated subtitles recognized the sound of the exhaust as music 👏

As a75 year old man,walker glass packs,cherry bombs,dual packed smithy’s,do any of these ring a bell,they let the engine breathe better,added a small amount of horse power,and were cool sounding,plus there are far more dangerous drivers today,and I know there are much more drivers today,but with hand signals,and knowing much more about cars,the old folks got it hands down!Many men,do not know how to change a tire,jump a car,even know what a clutch is!My 51, Oldsmobile,98 ,with manual steering,or my 56 olds 98 holiday ,with a 394 engine,and wonder bar radio,a switch on the floor you could change radio channels with,were cool!

Loud exhausts save lives also. A lot of people think just because a car has a loud exhaust that said vehicle is always going fast and that couldnt be farther from the truth. I guess that means if a cop has a gun and badge he is completely honest and trustworthy . I think its called Judgeing a book by its cover.

I love and respect the sound of a nice, loud exhaust system. It stands for freedom, being unique, and being proud of something you built. I’m always distracted and stop what I’m doing to take a look at where that exhaust noise is at.

Or with flow-through exhaust, or glass packs, or similar, that mellows the sharp notes a bit, but still let most of the sound go through.. Or larger diameter pipes with aforementioned mufflers, to facilitate flow. Modified doesn't necessarily mean "no muffler".

Good thing it sounds that loud and sexy or I may not hear it and miss a beautiful car!

My personal favorite are the import ricers that sound like a pissed off 5 horsepower Briggs and Stratton lawnmower, knowing full well the driver has the I.Q. of a couch cushion.

I'm a long haul trucker. A number of years ago, I had a straight-piped Peterbilt with a 650hp Caterpillar modified to almost 800hp, for heavy hauling (one of those trucks with a LOT of axles and tires and weighs 3-4 times as much as a normal 80,000 lb truck). I had a light load on, and a white (this is important) kid in a Honda with fart cans and silly tires came up beside me at a red light and yelled, "22s, n***a!!" (I'm white as well..) I hollered back, "24.5s, stupid white kid!" He had 22" rims; I had 24.5" "tall rubber". Straight pipes on 800hp big truck with a guy who knows how to use his 18-speed transmission .... vs a stupid kid in a Honda. Light turned green, I hit the throttle, got all the way up to the 35 mph speed limit and shut'er down. I ain't gettin no speeding ticket in a small southern town!! He whizzes past a block later, finally up to 50, those fart cans just farting away. Cop pulled out and nailed him for speeding!
