Modi and Putin "Chit-Chat" Over Tea In Russia, US Urges India To Raise Ukraine's Sovereignty
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Russia for his first foreign visit since being elected for a third straight term in June. Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed the Indian leader at his home in Novo-Ogaryovo, and greeted him as his "dear friend" on July 8. The first day of the 2-day visit was high on optics as both the leaders drank tea on a terrace, rode in a golf cart together and visited Putin’s stables. The Russian president gave Modi a tour of his residence outside Moscow ahead of official talks between the two on July 9. Meanwhile, The US called on Indian PM Narendra Modi to stress on Ukraine's territorial integrity during his talks with Putin.
