I play soccer but I do not wear shorts anymore. I wear pants but sometimes they mark my body. I am thinking about not playing anymore. Even though I like soccer I love Jesus and my soul more.

The state of common understanding of topics like this are why we so badly need a revival of study of patristics by the laity and in seminaries. We have the Paedagogus, St Chrysostom's homilies on the Pauline epistles, Tertullian's advice regarding the apparel of women etc, not to mention the clear statements in scripture. As a convert I fail to understand sometimes how such a great depth of wisdom that is available to christendom is consistently overlooked even by those who consider themselves conservatively minded.

This is a great sermon. How do you explain husbands who show no attraction to their wives? They ignore their modest wives and give their attentions to other women who are immodest.

They don't deserve their wife and if he is not meeting his duties and needs as a husband she has right to divorce for the sake of her and her children ✝️☦️🕊️

My Catholic mother is noticing my dresses to the floor and wants them shorter to show off the body God gave me....but I'm disagreeing

Lisa Manesh you are beautiful without having to "show off your body". Imagine a gift at Christmas. All wrapped up in beautiful paper. You never say "wow that is ugly it all wrapped up" but, usually, more excited to see what is inside. A husband should be like that to his spouse (& vice versa) as clothing is to conceal, not reveal. A virtuous man is attracted to virtue, not flesh. Any guy will turn their head at flesh. You don't want to be the fantasy of another guy just for his pleasure. A woman will be either Eve, leading a man to sin, or Our Lady, leading a man to God. Full disclosure these sermons made me change the way I dress, too. Used to be a personal trainer (& still in good shape) but I don't walk around in sleeveless shirts anymore nor will I walk along a public sidewalk or walkway without a shirt on. I don't want to be a source of another's temptation. You mother, in sure, has no idea on this teaching. Many saints speak of modesty in dress (Fatima spoke of it too as Our Lady said there will be fashions that will offend Our Lord. A yr or 2 later the bikini came out). Stay strong. Will pray for you in this. Be gentle with you mom and guide her. St Bellarmine said " an once of Charity (true charity) is stronger than 100 cartloads of reason". Also, there are many ways to dress modest & still be 'fashionable" as women are the lilies of the world. They are our best & most beautiful gender. They are to be colorful & wonderful but it needs to be a fair fight for us guys. We are our brothers' keeper.

Lisa Manesh sorry but your Mom is not putting the Word of God first which clearly teaches modesty (1 Timothy 2:9,10). Many Catholics dont read the Bible or have any clue what God actually has stated through the prophets and Apostles in Sacred Scripture. Same goes for many protestants these days as well. Good for you on following God instead of man.

Also, veils are beautiful. The only time modern women reject accessorizing is when it’s associated with the concept of modesty, so that says something about values in our society.

As a man who has struggled with lust in the past I will say this. In my experience putting on more clothes does not protect me from sinful thoughts, especially since men don't even need to see the women to lust after them. In Muslim countries where women are veiled head to toe, men still lust. How? Because we mentally undress them. Modesty is important because of respect for Jesus but just wearing more clothes is not going to stop me from having the temptation to lust after a woman. Especially since I'm the kind of guy who finds women more appealing when there are more clothes. I'm turned off by nudity and immodesty.

I wear trousers to the gym but tie my top around my waist when on the treadmill or elsewhere just to conceal and cover my body, please is this okay, if not, how can I being female dress to the gym, I am not going to wear all that tight fitting clothes that leave nothing to the imagination , but please kindly advise on how to dress as a female to the gym. Thanks

Look up the Mary Like Modesty Crusade. They have a lot of good examples of modist swimwear.

I have a question, I had some dresses that bare the shoulders and go shorter than the knees. After listening to this homily, I want to switch to skirts that reach below the knees. I feel bad just throwing away clothes when I can donate it. But I don't want others wearing short dresses. What is the right thing to do? Donate the clothes to the needy that may not be the most modest or throw them away?

Lisa Manesh Deo gratias :) as a guy to hear that a lady converted in a modesty sermon is amazing. I'm still fighting an image I saw a couple days ago after just a glance that was accidental. Yeah best idea is to just throw them away. If you have the ability then one can always buy to donate

Sensus Fidelium YES! Your homilies are great and I think they are SO TRUE to what the Catholic life and faith needs to be. We need to remain tied to traditions. I always felt shameful when my skirt was a little shorter than my knees in front of the priest, but I should extend that to all men! I had no idea it was a sin but it makes complete sense now. WOW your priests are great! I think it's not fair to men so I want to start wearing longer skirts. That's really good advice to just dispose of the dresses. There's a part of me that feels bad that I'm throwing away clothes a poor person can use, but on the other hand, I don't want to be an accomplice that leads others to sin. I have some beautiful shorter dresses I just cherish and I feel like I can't let go of them. But I want to be detached from worldly goods like the saints. I'm getting rid of my immodest clothes gradually and will pray to St. Catherine of Siena, I think in one of the homilies I heard from your site that she donated clothes all the time!

I gave some away when I went through the change initially, and realized I was helping someone else fall into the sin of lust. I threw away the rest after realizing that. It's great to hear others are hearing God's call to dress modestly. God bless.

Can we also remember that Jesus wore robes and his disciples probably wore modest robes as well? His kingdom was not of this world. He never once mentioned what we should wear, and said we should not be concerned about our clothes. Would they rather have people in church, dressed inappropriately but learning or not at all?

All very good and excellent and necessary advice - admonition. But..;not a word about the apostolic ordinance given to the Church by St. Paul that women must cover their heads when praying - and of course Mass is the highest most solemn and effective of prayers; Why this silence? Remember St. paul does not say that this is his own opinion as he does in discussing virgins, Therefore it is from Christ Himself. It is a must, not an option. And if women or their pastors ignore this we have mortal sin, since Christ is being knowingly disobeyed; I have attended many SSPX Masses and also Masses of the SSSP, where women are allowed to attend mass with head uncovered, though most cover their heads. Nothing said. Very bad.!
