When freestyling lyrics it's like whenever he gets stuck he defaults to that time those Italian boys fucked him up in Chicago. lol

I think what I like the most about this version is there are strong elements of the "Long Drive" style, particularly the guitar parts in between the versus. They kind of give me a Novocain Stain vibe

the lyrics are like the image, you can make connections to real life things, even though not everything makes sense.

I'm so used to the other one that this one makes me feel like I'm having a stroke.

Well its new to me, and its a refreshing remake lol

I cannot properly put into words how much soul this version of the song has

Glad they cleaned it up and upgraded the sound quality while adding the chorus and the riff. I do wish they left a lot of these lyrics in (the people moving line really hit home) and kept it just as long.

I'm really glad the gritty version is out there though.

What I really love about this song is the guitar riff, which keeps coming back anyway.

Being 12 years old watching all my cousin smoke weed and eat mushrooms behind grandma’s house to modest will always be a great core memory I have ❤️🤙🥰 wish I could go back for the day to partake with them 🥸😂

I like this version much more than the studio one. maybe because it sounds rawer and less produced, like a lot of their earlier work

Check out the performance of it they did on the Craig Kilborn Late Show. It's always been my favorite version of Flot On. Has a lot more of their early sound than the album version did.

Neat to hear. Deff glad they had someone produce it in the long run. I think its missing a lot without the chorus. Whoever wrote the summary about this video is silly. The poppy shit adds a lot to the song.

True fucking that. That's the type of person who wouldn't like Modest Mouse at all if they we're a lot more popular. I just think it's hilarious when a band or artists fans are so much more pretentious about the music than the people who actually made it are. What the fuck is wrong with something being catchy anyways? Plus this really isn't as different as people are claiming it to be. It sounds more raw because it's fucking shittily recorded.

This isnt an earlier or alternative version, it is Isaac ad libbing at a live performance like he often does. There are many versions of most of their songs, think "Ocean Breathes Salty" for one. He often makes up songs on the spot, or mixes lyrics from songs together. Especially during the phase he was heavily using drugs.

Though you are right, you can tell from the ocean breathes salty early version video that the vocals are much more awkward. All bands like to put some little spins on their tunes but this is so foreign to the product and was uploaded at such an early point from release i have doubt that this is just a god tier quality concert recording

But it is worse. This song is so visceral. Float on, the studio version, is a great song but it's been pared down to the cliff notes version. Die hard fans are likely to enjoy this one more. And I'm pretty sure everyone is going to call Modest Mouse fans hipsters, apparently even other Modest Mouse fans.

+Taylor GB it is rougher and more psychedelic, but in no means more visceral. i am a die hard modest mouse fan and im glad they took away the weird guitar effects and made it cleaner. everyone is entitled to their own opinion though

Now I just realized that the fuckin' singer, is constantly mumbling over the song and that's actually pretty *_awful._* this version of an otherwise great song is incredibly shittaly DONE.
