On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

You should've gone vertical again. You were doing that the entire engagement and then you didn't. I know it was in it's second burn phase, but a vertical recommit probably would have defeated it. I'm just brooding over the jump scare, that I was not expecting.

The reason why the 4.5g overload limit is imposed is only for safety. The reason is that the MiG-25 could lose control and possibly enter a flat spin if it pulled more than 4.5g because the wingtips used to flex 70 cm from their original position at 5g+ caused aileron reversal.

A MIG-25 did shoot down a F/A-18 on the 1st night of Desert Storm. Other pilots saw the MIG and requested permission to engage, but the E-3 AWACS operator denied the request, so they left it alone, only to lose a fellow pilot.

Not really in most situations. The F-16 (and many other jets) easily outperform the Mig-25 in terms of thrust/weight and initial climbing ability, and you dont climb with them either. Its almost always better tu run the missile out of energy in denser lower air.

As Digi20 already said, you should always go lower and drive the missile into denser air. The only thing you would "achieve" with an initial climb is decreasing your own energy and allowing the missile to keep its own energy up. The saying "go up to blow up" doesn't come from nowhere

In this case the RWR didn't shut up, that's just how the F-16s RWR sounds, one warning every 10 or 15 seconds or something like that. I would imagine he knew that, and he knew he was about to be hit, so he just decided to have a little fun with that.

Man this was such a good video. I've been struggling a lot with trying to hone my BVR tactics and something about this just made it click for me. I'm still bad (I was going to use another word but I think it's censored), but I feel like now I'm making better calls on when to commit and when to go defensive and my 50/50 is inching up steadily. Much appreciation. Or I think it's this: starting to take more into consideration what my action forces the opponent to do. And taking into consideration what the opponent wants me to do with their shots. Something just caused a substantial upwards turn in my success rate. I still get shot down all the time, but, after being on a plateau, now it's getting better.

Would love to see you do a BVR engagement in the Foxbat/Foxhound. Willing to bet you would give it a good show of how lethal it can be in BVR.

Never read anything about an Eagle almost being downed by a MiG-25 in 91. There was the Hornet loss to a Foxbat and in 1982, a MiG-21 nailed an F-15A with an Atoll but the Eagle made it back to fly again.

Great day for the aluminum scrappers. We used to track Foxbats over the Med moving at mach 3. Our opinions were never very high of the Mig 25.

Unlikely you saw Foxbats moving faster than Mach 2.8 - (any faster would damage or even wreck its engines). For routine missions, the MiG 25 was limited to Mach 2.5 to maximise the lifetime of the engines. The MiG-25 was a good plane to be in - if your objective was to run away.
