“Welcome to hell” Specially said in Russian. This was spoken to a Russian communications officers during the battle of Grozny 94-95 by Chechen fighters who apparently were talking on the radio having previously killed the owner silently. Which made that scary as hell. Even more scary when a motorized unit was moments later obliterated by guerrilla fighters. This must have been scary for Makarov who also fought in the 1st Chechen war and in Grozny as well. He served with spetznaz and learned of the brutality of Chechen guerrilla fighters (many whom served the Soviet Union at one point in their lives) Which explains their effectiveness and surprisingly good organization in combat. Anyways Makarov must have loved showing Captain price the good ol sneaky Chechen surprise. “Hell awaits you” Killing Soap, Prices beloved and also creating confusion by saying he knew Yuri. That created hell for Price and Call of Duty. I got high.

***** Soap was on a verge of dying in the prologue of this game when he got knifed by Shepherd in MW2,and he pulled it out.Now Soap gets caught in the explosion that knocked him out as he falls,and the debris from the building cut his wound open again which caused a lot of blood to come out.

The thing that gets me the most about this scene is the lack of subtitles after Soap dies. Hearing Price scream, trying desperately to keep his best friend alive, begging that this isn’t happening, but to no avail is truly crushing, and I don’t know what it is, but not having subtitles makes this scene feel more real, and more crushing because of it.

Whoever voiced Captain Price here was outstanding. His grief sounded so real it gave me goosebumps when Soap died.

The Modern Warfrare trilogy was the best introduction to Call of Duty I've had as a kid. Still one of my fav CoDs.

When I was there in this scene, I hit the Esc button and go to washroom to take a rest for this. We love you Soap, I am sorry Captain Price.

Why does Makarov knowing Yuri deserve a punch down the stairs? Firstly, Makarov knows Soap and Price as well, and Secondly, if he wanted to kill them he would have so many chances to do that before. Lastly, if he thought Yuri was a double agent, why would Makarov expose him?

+4SidedStar Probably because Price was really enraged with the death of Soap, and knowing that he was having someone who knew the enemy, felt betrayed (Soap just told Price that Yuri knew Makarov, he didn't specify how he knew it).

+4SidedStar I think the point they were trying to make, is it shouldn't have been news to Price and Soap, and that Yuri should have told them rather than keep it a secret. Especially Price, who had been dealing with this crisis for 20 years and isn't going to take any sort of risk upon hearing about one of his squad mates having a history with the enemy. I'm sure he would want to get it cleared up even if he did hear Makarov expose Yuri.
