The first ever American football is the ball used in the Princeton vs Rutgers game in 1869, more than 70 years before the 1940s ball shown in the video. The ball in the video isn’t even the first NFL ball as the ball changed shape and size in 1932 and the first NFL season was in 1920. Also, the “old” ball in this video is worn and weathered. I love it keep the work❤❤❤❤
w video mmg
Basically, Sammy Baugh is the greatest NFL player of all time. Guy was the greatest QB AND punter of his time with this horrendous ball. 187TD's passing And AVERAGING 45 yards per punt. With a then NFL record of an 85 yard punt. He also a top DB of his era, as well.
Running games were a thing back in the 40s
that is so quiet Siri I need to poop a phone📞
Who else didn’t notice that he had different cleats on until the second time you watched it😂😂😂
Yea the old QBs had a sidearm motion. With a bigger ball I can see why.
Awesome 🎉
Old ball seems like itd make for a way better game.
That’s how I know old school players had more talent, catching that ball a pain
he has got very good over the past year or so
Watermelon?? Current NFL players: “let’s bring the old ball back….please”
the cowboys should sign this guy as their kicker
Go to show you just how good those players were.
Yooo it’s Twevar Lorance
When was like a soccer ball but with laces
Dang he can catch those 😳😯
explains why they only ran the ball back then 😅
That old football looks like you chopped a cows butt then added show laces on it! LOL
Bro should be a kicker💀☠️
Gives me a ton more respect to Johnny Unitas lol
The old footballs are what made the passing yards and gameplay that much more impressive, looking back imo. Doesn’t mean it was optimal however. Interesting. I’d have to see it tested more to form a full opinion.

did they even pass it back then? You know i always wondered what it would be like if both the NFL and the NBA had variations where they played with the old rules.

@@jmgonzales7701 I wish they had a seperate league for that too. But I have a feeling unless it was majority or all old rules that aren’t used/have* been replaced, people will think it’s “redundant” or not worth it. I do like seeing the XFL’s rule differences though.

@@Tayl0r_ yeah i think so too. Its unlikely thou interesting. I wonder what would it look like.
We all know that the new ones are advance and the old are just old
Is that Trevor Lawerence
So old players need more credit that’s all I get from this video
You also have to remember that the leather has aged and probably doesn't have the same grip or tension it woikdve had
Jerry Rice watching this as the GOAT: 😉

he's a kicker...
Proves football was way more difficult back in the day!
It actually doesn’t look all that bad, just a bit less pointed on the very end
Imagine if they broke the football
Dudes used to kick that old ball barefoot 😮

No; they didn’t, where did you hear that from?
I’ve got one of those from the 90s 😂
No football is better than the pigskin football we use for practice
The modern. Definitely
Probably because passing didn’t really used to be a thing in the NFL back then….or field goals.

there were no field goals before?
El old mucho mejor por la calidad de jugadores y lances o patadas de pura fuerza 💪
Of course that’s going to happen when an 80 year old ball’s leather deteriorates and the bladder is,pretty much, gone. Same thing will happen to that NFL ball in 80 years unless it’s kept in pristine condition.
Balls were bigger and rounder in the 20s
U always get results close to 69 but the world says no
Damn I really thought the ball was that color 😂
Bruh why is logan paul teaching me about football while everyone is calling him papa
Makes me wonder if these kickers and QB’s actually have strength…
Old football was much more run based anyway
Dude looked like Trevor Lawrence
Well, back in the day , it was a bigger ball because not a lot of teams were passing most ran the veer or triple option.
Dude, I have the same duke ball and I also got it today
