Modern Monarchy Retold: From Queen Victoria To The House Of Windsor | Kings & Queens | Real Royalty

We begin our look at the Modern Monarchy with the longest ruling royal in British history; Queen Victoria. From her accession to the throne in 1837 to her death in 1901 Victoria was to reign for 64 years. In contrast, Edward VII her successor, was to be king for only 10 years; a reign that led up to the current House of Windsor.
From Elizabeth II to Cleopatra, Real Royalty peels back the curtain to give a glimpse into the lives of some of the most influential families in the world, with new full length documentaries posted every week covering the monarchies of today and all throughout history.

Nope...Victoria was still Hanoverian, her son Edward VII was the first in House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (whose son George V changed to Windsor). Unlike Elizabeth II, who styled her children as Windsors (despite complaining from Phillip), Victoria gave her children Albert's family name (partly in return for not letting him be named King).

Part of the great draw to their country is the Royal family & their homes. It brings visitors worldwide as tourist. Tourists bring money which helps so many of the business owners there. The businesses add to the overall economy. Pretty simple. There is also the fact they are one of the very few countries where traditions actually mean something.

Did you know why the Queen of Denmark abdicated? Edward and Alexendra had an illegitimate son, who was born unannounced, baptized and abandoned in 1862. The relatives of this hidden Royal did communicate with the Danish Monarch who shortly afterwards, abdicated. They have had no better success with the English Royal Family members, who have apparently obstructed attempts to engage with them.

Thank you. I am enjoying this series. Great Britain dodged a bullet when Edward Vlll abdicated! March 2024: Now that HMTQ and Prince Philip have passed, I do not know how much longer a British monarch will continue to reign in a rapidly changing post-industrial, soon to be A.I. world with a vastly changed demographic. However, King Charles III seems to be coming into his own and his current wife, Queen-Consort Camilla is faithfully by his side. I would venture to guess that most of the British people like both Prince William and his wife, Catherine, Princess of Wales, as well as their three charming children. Princess Anne, as she has done throughout her life, is continuing to visit charities and countries throughout the Commonwealth in support of the sovereign. Prince Edward and his wife Sophia are now the Duke and the Duchess of Edinburgh and are following Queen Elizabeth II's and Prince Philip's service to God and country. Some of the old guard are still around and all but Prince Edward, Duke of Kent are now retired. It is nice to see them at family events.

What I don't understand is this: when Elizabeth I Tudor died in 1603, the ruling house name changed to Stuart; when Queen Anne died in 1714, the ruling house name changed to Hanover; when Queen Victoria died in 1901, the ruling house changed to Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, and George V changed the ruling house name to Windsor in 1917; so, why didn't the ruling house name change when Elizabeth II died in 2022?

It would have changed to Mountbatten had she taken Prince Phillips name … which was the English version of Battenberg which technically was German. Reasons why George V changed the name to Windsor in the beginning, they wanted nothing to do with Germany anymore.

Because the throne passed from mother to son. It wasn’t a cousin or nephew type thing where the family name changes. Charles is a Windsor. In fact, Philip complained he was the only man not allowed to give his name to his children.

Actually the ruling house name did NOT change in 1603. The House of Stuart was already ruling in Scotland from as far back as 1371. In 1603, the Tudor dynasty died out and so the English nobles asked Scotland's king to be thier king since they no longer had one of thier own. But James VI actually inherited the name of his mother's dynasty so there actually as precedent for a queen passing on her house name to her son. Let's not forget that Elizabeth II and Charles III are not descended from Elizabeth I but from Mary I so they are actually following a tradition set by thier ancestors.

I heard it from a Muslim directly him laughing about how Britain just allowed them in there because the two Lifestyles don't mix! Britain was the first Christian Nation and during that time it produced all manner of beautiful works even if they didn't have it quite alright so much inspiration and wisdom came out of that time we saw more creative works and the entire Western Civilization born out of that time. However the biggest time of testing is not when you're already on your knees it is when you're blessed! With all this new free thinking came the thought that we didn't need God after so long the invisible walls of protection were taken for granted. The issue is now they want to become Godless and push this fake Darwinism Evolution Theory conspiracy, (by the way the Smithsonian has been sued for hundreds of thousands of examples of lost or purposely destroyed artifacts that disproved Evolution and proved biblical truth so it qualifies as a conspiracy) so now there is no spiritual defense against what these radicalized Muslims bring to bear against a now spiritually ignorant Western world! We were so lost in our high-minded ideals that we forgot we were standing on the shoulders of geniuses and that people fought and bled to give us the world we live in and we already had the light of the Gospel, even if not perfect we were so better off that everyone from around the world wanted to come to Europe and America! It's like a card game where they play and sit down their spiritual card and we have no card to play! Not only are the spiritual Gates unguarded but they are left wide open! Now there are thousands and thousands of Muslims in Britain calling for Sharia law and to dismantle the monarchy! I pray that we have a move to the Lord again and people wake up learn how to say no and hold the ground again! Past Generations must be turning in their graves.

Firstly, I'll begin by stating you absolutely do NOT speak for most Americans! Also, you being an American doesn't make your comment any more palatable. You mustn't know very much as to how government and parliament actually work otherwise your statement wouldn't be as such. You obviously also prefer fairytales of Kings & Queens over truth as this documentary wasn't a scathing take-down of the monarchy; Rather, a documentary based on facts. I'm not one to argue which country has "the best" government as they are ALL corrupt in 1 way or another.
