Claire took it well you could tell she was remembering the reaction her and Phil got when she fell pregnant with Hayley so she stayed calm congratulated and hugged her and confided in her dad, also Claire and Jay had a bonding moment themselves when he quietly said she took it better than he did and she replied how she was Jay on the inside, Jay realised what a shock it would come as to Claire and he gave her support, guidance and praise in those few words I would guess he probably feels some regret for his reaction to Claire's pregnancy all those years ago

To be fair it must be a shock to parents to be when they find out its a multiple pregnancy apparently they break it gently to the parents due to the shock and anxiety so Dylan should get a pass I doubt I'd be as logical if I was told twins lol

Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell’s acting upon finding out about the baby was pretty great. You can see the shock, happiness and surprise at the same time.

WOW.. this brought back memories. Over 4 years ago my daughter told me she was pregnant. I did not overreact I hugged her supported her she was 21 years old at the time. 6 weeks later she told me Mom I'm having twins. Each day I fall more and more in love with my twin granddaughters. They are absolutely the best thing that could have ever happened to our family.

Also Claire and Jay had a bonding moment there, Jay hugged her and said she handled it better than he did, he gave Claire support, understanding and praise and also implied his own regret at his reaction and Claire responds to him that she's Jay on the inside and knows her dad understands how she's feeling.

I love how they were all waiting for Claire to react before reacting themselves.

The metaphor of dylan plopping out of the chimney right after "a little dylan popping out of you" just absolutely kills me

The worrying expression on both Phill and Claire are so real. A mix of happiness and uncertainty of the thousands possibilities for their daughter

I know some people hate that the writers "did this to her" but I love how she turned out: I wasn't a big fan of Dylan either, but he matured and grew WITH her. I liked Andy, but Haley would have always been in his shadow. She was 25 (?) when she got pregnant, which is a wonderful age for starting a family. She went a loooong way to be where she is with so many ups and downs, but she found her way. Not everyone needs to be an Alex.

Hence for the title “Modern Family”, it should be relatable to today’s life experiences, and also by adding humors and heartwarming lessons. Early and unplanned pregnancy is still rampant even up to this day.

Also, as weird as it sounds, it was necessary for Claire and Phil's story too. Up until this development they were looking at their 'empty nest' years as a chapter that was going to be all about them, and in a show about family I can't imagine them closing out one of the three families in such an isolated manner.

stuff like this is why i’m NOT mad dylan and haley are together. you can tell from ep one that haley is meant to be a copy of claire, going through the same things claire went through. dylan isn’t andy. but dylan IS her phil dunphy.

I honestly don't understand why people hate so much that Haley and Dylan ended up being a couple. Okay sure he's stupid but so is Haley and he's always been kind to her and treated her with respect. he actually reminds me of Phill.

This right here is the epitome of "it takes a village to raise a child"

I know that we are supposed to see a pregnancy as a generally happy event, but saying 'congrats' to unplanned pregnancy doesnt change the fact that it is such a complicated, shocking news. Especially for someone young, even if she is already technically a working adult. This is coming from someone whose two sisters got pregnant out of wedlock, both at the same year (the universe really had a sense of humor). Good thing they are 25 and 29 yrs old, so they're in the right age. They have jobs. We're well off. Still, it was a shock because we havent even met the guys, and my sisters are the prim anx proper kind, our family was seen as the "ideal well respected family" on the outside. So it was all shocking. My mom, coming from a conservative family, sat on floor and cried, thinking if she failed. My dad tried to be more cool headed, but coming from an overachieving old money family, I can sense the subtle disappointment that they havent reached a stable career yet before this, plus his anger is directed more on the men. My parents are kind and strong but they arent perfect and their reactions are valid. And then there was me, doing my best to shed light on the more positive side of things and how we can all support each other, instead of caring too much about reputation or worrying too much on what's gonna happen. But deep inside, it was really hard. I had to take a couple of days off at work to help manage everyone's emotions, and logistics (meeting the men and their families, etc). But we are okay now, I now have two adorable healthy nephews, and they bring a lot of joy (and work) for all of us. Highlights of our day. One of my sisters got married to her baby daddy recently, came from a good family. My other sister is co-parenting but decided not to tie the knot, and we support her. Both guys are good guys. So all is well, I guess. I just wish such a miraculous event like this happened in a more ideal circumstance because it really was worth celebrating.

I love this scene so much. I’m kinda the troubled child like Haley and my mom would react the same way shocked and overwhelmed but when it came down to it she’d be a Claire in this situation. She always talked about being the mom in the delivery room and I always said I just wanted it to be me and my partner but come to think of it I’d need my momma there to give me this kinda support. So yes my mom will be in the delivery room. Moms just get it, whether you like them or not.

I have a 17 Year old Sister. She is the younger Sister, but she started daiting earlier than me. I know she has sex, and I am so scared she will get pregnant before finishing School. We live in Poland so there is Little chance on her having an abortion. How's this for the ending ? Haley has done something genuine in her fashion industry via the blog she was working on. She gets pregnant but with Andy who is now a realtor. This is so much like Phil and Claire (which ig is the writer's intention) but keeps up with Haley's character growth and obviously we all love Andy!
